After looking at the spec's on sprintpcs.com, I was wondering if there is any real difference in the features that they offer... looked the same to me.

Form factor and storage are the first things that come to mind.

535 has a a mini-SD slot to use with MP3s and a .3 pixle better camera. A700 has Voice Signal dialing, and...it's a flip, hence the same price.

well the slide/flip is obviously but I mean as far as screen resolution and technical's go.

No, they both have a 1.3 megapixel camera, no difference.

A700 has a 1.0MP camera. The LG's is 1.3.

No, they both have a 1.3 megapixel camera, no difference.

Built-in Digital Camera Shoot digital pictures with the built-in megapixel class camera (1024 x 768 pixels on highest resolution) with auto-focus and rotating lens, and zoom capability. This is the A700 it has a 1.0 megapixel camera. That's why you get only 1024x768 for resolution.

The 1.3 gets 960x1280.

Voice dialing is as important to you as an MP3 player? You have your priorities out of whack.

You listed then in a comparison. Assuming the LG has a better camera, why else consider the a700? Its "Voice Signal dialing?" The a700's amazing(ly slow) UI? Waffleiron resemblence?

Bro ease off. After losing my phone a sprint rep critiqued me for getting the 5400 instad of the 8200. I previously had the 8100. I told him I prefered a phone that was lighter and larger screen over a camera.

A memory slot... Yeah, that just begs the purchase of a memory stick and use vision to upload pictures. Which also begs for someone to get the vision package (to avoid paying for the kb...)
Do we have to pay for picture mail???
It's also a nonflip... My phones get treated rough in my pockets with my keys... That screen will get scratched in a good minute.

That's $15 a month, plus what the memory card costs....

Pointing out things the 535 provides yet not worth it for many for X reasons

X:
-nonflip, screen more prone to scratches
-lower battery life
-nonflip, some like the flip factor
-Camera, nice feature but begs to upload pics, which is an added cost for those without a vision package... Plus some don't care for a camera
-LG, lets face it, more prefer the Samsung brand over the LG brand
SD slot, it just begs for the purchase an sd card.

Consider and SD card and the PCS vision, and you have a more expensive phone.
The 535 doesn't have bluetooth. Why do you mention it?

With the SD you don't need vision it comes with a usb cable to transfer pics and videos to your computer.

I understand what you are saying now. My comment about BlueTooth was that Vision isn't necessary to transfer pics if you have BlueTooth (well, non-crippled BT anyway :)).

But then people complain about lack of variety. If you can purchase a $400 phone I'd think you'd at least have Vision on your account. All of those points could also be nullified cuz they can be applied to the A800 as well.

I don't know what the big fuss is about bluetooth. With all the software related compatibility issues with bluetooth itself, I just dont see myself ever getting a device that has bluetooth in it unless it comes with what I want.

For DUN just get an aircard instead of bluetooth. Safer but more expensive, since they ARE cracking down a lot more on Vision abuse. Very reliable since I use mine everytime i go online (have 80$ plan for unlimited).

For wireless headset use, I like this feature because I would use this a lot but only in my own home or office (never out in public). I never liked wires running up and down my body whether it be for stereo headphones or headsets. I use a portable FM stereo transmitter in my house and slap on some wireless fm headphones and I'm set. On my 5600 i have two stereo 3.5mm headset adapters sold by sprint with the turbo button. Got one installed in my car and listen to conversations, mp3's, and videos all through my car speakers via aftermarket headunit. Can you do that with bluetooth??

For file transferring, USB cables are good enough for me since USB is pretty much standard in every PC today, quick, reliable, and safe from hackers.

I dunno, to each their own. And NO I'm not bashing the people who do enjoy using bluetooth, dont get me wrong but its a great technology! Just not for me.

Please stop assuming. I only 'created' a situation where a phone user would prefer one phone over another. I'm speaking for the general public as much as i'm speaking for myself. In other words, the situation is for those that it applies to. If it does NOT apply to you than I am not speaking about you. :wavey:

you said "I'm speaking for the general public" and then you say your not. your totally contradicting yourself. You lie about everything else (see my signature) so why not this too?

<sighs> Jake... When you quote part of a sentence add three periods before you put the close quotation mark sign, e.g. "..." This way others will know you're choosing to not quote the entire sentence. Because Jake, you just took my sentence out of context.
Please state how I am contradicting myself so that I may help you understand that I am not.
I said, “In other words, the situation is for those that it applies to. If it does NOT apply to you than I am not speaking about you.” Now I made this statement because it should not matter whether I was speaking about a specific person or not, but instead those who have some or all of the X reasons as to why they would choose the A700 over the 535.
Why shouldn’t it matter whether I’m speaking about myself or not? Well, because I am not speaking about myself. I already use vision and already have a compatible memory card.

Jake

Back to the topic.... After having a phone with a mini sd slot I personally couldnt live with out it. Ive actually used Sprints pic site less because I can just tranfer them to the pc. The added storage cant be beat. I used a 7400 while I was in Florida a few months back and constantly had to upload pics. With the 128 card I have in my phone at the moment I can go weeks without uploading and thats with about 12 mp3s and 6 music vids! :headbang2

It matters because not everyone wants you to speak for them when they may or may not agree with your statement.

Who am I speaking for? I created a situation where their would be a preference for the A700 over the 535.
The statement's simple:
Are there people that prefer flip over slider?
Are there people that care about battery life over other features?
Are there people that have minimal interest in a camera feature?
Are there people that will not pay for vision?
Are there people that will not be using a memory slot?
Are there people that prefer Samsung over LG?

The more a person answers yes to the above, the less inclined they'll select the 535 over the A700.

Enough with english 101, Had both phones I would take the 700 over the 535. The 535 I had,... which I've already sold had bad reception, the 700 had good reception. The 5600 has the best reception out of those three phones. Now this is my location not yours, all phones are different.

I'll gladly try the 535/A8 when I can, but there are reasons why I switched from candybar to clamshell in the first place. I prefer the protection of my keys and internal screen. I made a few calls with the Samsung p777 and I think clamshells are more comfortable against the face.

I'd probably choose the 5600 over the 535, though.

I still don't understand why some people have to be so resistant to change! The slider is the kind of phone that when you first see it, you're like "eww get that thing away from me!" and then after you see it a couple weeks later you're like "that POS belongs in the back oh that BFI truck driving by!", and then after seeing it again a month or so later, it becomes self-explanitory as you begin reaching into your pocket in search of your VISA!!!

I used to have that phone for vm b4 switching to sprint. aside from the fact that it gets scratches VERY easily, and that the sliding hinge gets looser over time, i thought it was a pretty good phone

the only thing that I don't like about the 535 is the screen being on the outside. it's a nice feature, but I would just be scared you'd crack the screen!!!! They both are nice phones though. My friend has the samsung and it's really nice, I like the flashing light on the outside that shows your signal. If it came down to it though, I would get the 535 because a) It's newer, b) It does Mp3, and c) I like the slider. Not everyone does though...

lol! why? because people don't like abercrombie or think its conceited or what? No, my problems with your statements in that "One More Person Who Complains About Sprint CS..." thread didn't really stem from you being a model, nor who your contractor is. It was more about your egotistical statements about the importance of looks, particularly your looks, and the stress of value you put on objects such as the Corvette your parents got you. Those are the things that turn me off from people, male or female.

Everyone's entitled to mistakes, however, so I gave you the benefit of the doubt and just told myself that I caught you at a bad time.

well it's not that I try to brag about those things, its just that it REALLY PISSED ME OFF that coolqf said he "found out I wasn't a model" which is why I got so defensive... I am really sorry for that incident though, I honestly don't intend to come accross as being full of myself though it may seem like it sometimes.

That's what I meant by me "catching you at a bad time." I knew you were probably just on the defensive and angry, a deadly combination which will make most people come out of themselves only to become someone else entirely. So I don't blame you and there's no need to apologize. We humans are all entitled to our mistakes. Infact, we're destined to make them.
