In my home I get low to no signal. Call reception is poor at best with distortions and dropped calls. Outside the signal is fine (no dropped calls). This goes for both of my Sprint phone and friends that visit (who also have Sprint service). I've pretty much determined that it is the stucco construction of the house. I use to have the same problem in my old office and it was also stucco.

I am happy with my Sprint service and plan and do not want to go to a new carrier. Because my only problem is in the house I have been looking for some kind of signal booster to use in the house. My Internet searches mostly revealed the passive foil thing that sticks under your battery (that doesn't work). Next I seen a device designed for the car that had 2 antennas (1 to mount on the outside glass and another to mount inside the car, a passive device. Although in a review it was claimed to only have a 5' range, not practical for the house. I then ran across this item from Solid Signal not sure who manufactures it the model number is listed as YX500-PCS (http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?main_cat=07&CAT=&PROD=YX500-PCS).

The basic installation instructions call for putting the one antenna in the attic. I have noticed once that I did get pretty good reception in the attic. Then the base unit with the smaller antenna goes in the house so the there is no cable connection to the phones. At less than $250 this sound like a more affordable than some of the other $500 plus solutions I've found searching the forums here.

Does anyone have any experience with this product? Any comment appreciated.

Thanks for the link. If we could clear the search engines of all the places selling those little under the battery boosters (that do not work) then we might be able to get some usable results from a query.

A friend of mine bought one from wirelss extenders also. He is pretty happy with it. He used to make cell phone calls by having to walk outside. Now he does not have to.. He pointed me to a product review on this unit. Go to http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=660 if you interested.

I bought a flat-panel yagi a few months ago, set it on the roof of my house and attached it with one of those directv dish arm things. Ran the cable down into my room, and it plugs into my cell phone via an adapter. I think the whole setup cost me $60. Basically whenever I wanna make a call on my cell, I just plug it into the back of my 7400. They make them for almost all phones. I got my flat panel from cellantenna.com. I sat on the roof and adjusted the antenna with the debug on my phone until I got the lowest DB. Works great, no power going to it, and best of all it was cheap.

mobile or not mobile? that is the question. I might as well use a land line.
