I'm going to have to second the NES, I have an NES, Super NES, Sega Gen, PS1, PS2, XBOX, Gamecube, Dreamcast, N64, GB, GBA, DS, Gamegear, and all I end up playing is the NES with my old gun for the Super Mario/Duck Hunt combo game

Super Mario 3......that's what I love on the NES, but I'm glad that they had the combo cart for the SNES.

Poor Dreamcast.......it could have had a nice life. But....I will tell you of something that flopped even more so....and I have one :hee:

Nintendo Virtual Boy.......it had to be red :(

agh... can't pick one. NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast...

i was a major nerd. i'm surprised to see some love out there for the underdog DC. i owned 3 of em and had a bunch of burned games for it. too many memories staying up endless nights playing awesome DC exclusive games with my lil bro. :headbang2

NES is the best, but I would say that the N64 was the most revolutionary system for its time. Man I was amazed when I first saw mario 64. 4 controllers, joystick, rumble pack, memory card. Most things that we have today stared on the Ninteno 64.

man, sega was right on with this one yo. online play, 4 controllers ports, exclusive games like soul edge. that was great. the very first phantasy star online. why sega, why did you not encrypt your games!? Quake! that was such a good game! come back to me dream cast!

^i think you mean Soul Calibur

still got one here :headbang2

i own 3 total between me and my bro, about 8 controllers, 8 memory cards, well over 50 games, not including burned imports, the SNES, NES, Genesis, and PSX emulators and roms, the DivX player, MP3 player, and VCD player. classic.

online play was the best, and when it first rolled out, it was completely free. anybody play Chu Chu Rocket online? i played that religiously :headbang2

soul edge was not for the DC and is not the japanese version of SC. it is the first of namco's "soul" series and released for the PSX, with the sequel, soul calibur, exclusively coming to the DC.

That's them little memory cards that can have little games of their own, right?

I would have to choose the N64. Perfect Dark, Pokemon Puzzle League and the Zelda's were excellent.

I was addicted to Pokemon Puzzle League! Played alot of 2 player......I love making the combos....I could make at around 20 or more in a row....

VMU's had the be the damn coolest things EVER. I still have my ice blue one (well, I still have all of my Dreamcast shtuff.)

Damn... come to think of it.... what the hell were people thinking when they bought the PS2? I hate the PS2- not because it killed the DC, but because it really is a lousy console. Shoddy construction, weak graphics* , crap for controllers, and it's a Sony.

(Note: while the PS2 could process more polygons, it couldn't antialias them simultaneously.)

Ok, all of you mentioned some interesting things....BUT i can incorporate all the games and systems you mentioned into one word....XBOX!!!!! Xbox is hands down THE BEST system ever made. And i can back that up 100%.

1)Games are Awesome (halo's).
2)construction of the system is solid
3)xbox live rocks

Those are the "normal" reasons its a good system...but not why its the best. Its best due to its modding capabilities!! Its not only my video game system, but my whole multimedia entertainment center. With my xbox modded with 250gb hard drive i know have all this...

1) MP3's
2) All downloaded video content (movies, etc)
3) NES, SNES, Gensis, Atari EMULATORS!!! I have every game ever made on emulator for nes, snes, gensis and atari, and most games for n64, and you can get dreamcast emulators too, but i dont have it.
4) rent and burn game capability, get the blockbuster game pass and get every game blockbuster has to offer in one month for $15.
5) download games for free and transfer them to the xbox (i just downloaded midnight club 3 :))

That's my place. (I don't own it.)

I would have to say that the PS2 is only worthwhile for all of the games available. However, in a few years, all of those games will be available on PC. Which is why I'm nominating the PC, since it can play all of the games all the old systems played. I wouldn't count any actual PC games, since they usually suck and I don't play them.

f

Yes, they suck.

The Xbox probably is the best console available, though I love my NES. You can play the games with one hand while doing homework! I have something like 5 NES console, 4 lightguns, and 11 controllers. I have at least three copies of SMB, and 4 copies of SMB/Duck Hunt. I only have one copy of Duck Hunt, and I have yet to attain an SMB/Duck Hunt/Track Meet of my own, and my brother wore his out.

if you want a GOOD mod on your xbox, i can refer you to the guy that did mine. He's in like michigan, but he does modding on the side as a business, and hes GOOD. he's done like over 250 xbox's now. He can do all kinds of crap to the xbox. If you provide the hard drive, and ship him the xbox and $100, he'll provide the chip, install it, install a new larger fan to help dicipate the extra heat, put all the nes, snes, genesis, atari etc emulators on the xbox, and basically send it back to you awesome and ready to go. then you can start downloading games, or even just go to blockbuster, rent and burn. It's well worth the money..every penny.

This is what i spent total to mod the xbox. I bought a 250gb hard drive (maxtor) off some guy locally for $100 bucks. Plus i sent Terry (the modder guy) $100 money order for his services, and it cost about $20 to ship it to him. So about $220. You're $100 will include return shipping too, so thats cool. I spent the $220 and am extremely happy with the results, works flawlessly.

I would say the super nintendo, but in all honesty I'm gonna have to go with the original PS. It had so many great games imo. Games like Resident Evil were totaly new to me and actually made me jump a couple of times. Thats something a game never did before. Then there are games like Twisted Metal and Destruction Derby that I had fun with for hours. When Resident Evil 2 and Twisted Metal 2 came out I was happy for month's.

Now if the Dreamcast was around longer I probably would have picked it. It had so much potential. The visuals were wayyyyy up there for it's time. It could compete with xbox for sure. It had some cool games also. Games like Seaman were way different that other games. I personally like the spawn game.

i say 450 tops, granted blu-ray is expensive as all H3LL but sont would rather lose money , than make it at an unrealistic price point, but what about the next gen of systems they will prolly push the 600-700 price point

Ovaltine224
01-15-2006, 11:54 AM
yea the thing about blu-ray is not just how much price it will add to the system, but also the games. the discs will definately be more than xbox360s. but then again, people would pay anything nowadays

element4life3
02-11-2006, 11:20 PM
The PS3 will basically offer the same graphics and power of the 360, but with Bluray. I think the 360 is better for your money, plus it is coming out with a lot of sweet games in the next few months!

timul
02-14-2006, 02:16 AM
How can you say which one is better for your money if the price has not yet been announced for the PS3?

element4life3
02-15-2006, 12:04 AM
It will most likely be the same price as the 360 or more. I am just saying there is too much hype about the PS3, and I think people are thinking to great of it. I play games online a lot more than single player, and the xbox 360 will have the PS3 beat unless the PS3 comes out with an Xbox Live like service, not their Online crap they plan to use again. Just my opinion...

Did you read this months issue of Playstation Magazine? PSM and game developers have stated that sony is releasing an online system that will match xbox live in every feature they offer and then some. They are saying Sony is taking this seriously and from what I read about what this thing will do, if done right they will have microsoft beat. Plus the best part about the PS3 is the fact that everything is already in it rather then xbox 360 you having to buy everything to add on to it. Like the HD DVD and the wireless wifi usb adaptor. All of this is standard in the PS3 and I have the 360 but I know when I get the PS3 I will be playing that like crazy. Just do not put down the PS3 just yet, gosh the thing has not even come out yet and people are already trying to compare them. Thats like me saying the 2008 ford explorer is better then the 2005.

Back on original topic, I loved the Super NES, hands down. This is also most likely due to the fact I was in grade school at the time, so I had the most time to enjoy it :). I barely played the N64 compared to it and even compared to the Gamecube now being in college.

As a child of the 80s the NES was great, so was the SNES. Just dont forget Game Boy! I no longer have the original (kept the red and blue earphones) but every other incarnation. To this day I pull out my GB Pocket just for that retro feel and play Operation C, or Tetris/DX

I have them all, and yeah they are all great, but i still power up the DC alot and that system still amazes me today. Gotta love DC. I picked up one of those wireless Joystick nostalgic games. I thought that would be cool, wrong. Unfortunately my memory of the games is better than actually playing the game. If they ever come out with one that has Tapper, i'll buy that one.

Oh yeah, about portable, I thought the Sega Game Gear System rocked, too.
