the buzzing is common with GSM. it's really not that big of a deal unless you have really cheap speakers around.

no kidding.. causing CRT monitors to flicker? Thats funny...
The buzzing was mentioned actually... The Cingular fans just brushed it off saying very few phones do this, which we all know isn't really true.

That's kinda how Nextel's used to do at my job at Nextel.

keep in mind that this isn't a "Cingular" thing but a GSM thing. and as I've found, it really is only bad around non-shielded speakers and monitors.
Yeah.. Most self respecting geeks don't use such equipment. Unfortunately these are rampant in the office place, though. And my old AT&T phone use to screw with my clock radio at home. That was annoying.

Heh. My v551 doesn't get along with my car stereo. It buzzes like mad when the phone gets close. Cracks me up. I just look at the stereo and think 'What have you got against my phone, eh?' But, since my left ear (the listening ear of preference) is about three feet from my car stereo, it's no big deal. It just happens if I move my closed phone over near the stereo. Makes my iPod headphones buzz a bit, too, but I only notice it between songs. My aftermarket headphones, that is. Heck, my SE in my pocket makes my headphones buzz ... but same thing in terms of noticing it.
If I could get away with it, I'd find a way to covertly stick a spare GSM phone (on of course) near my co-worker's landline because it causes a bit of buzz on the earpiece, too. That would drive him batty. Ah, the deviant things I could do.
Hey, my Sanyo earpiece was muffled. No technology is perfect.

GSM messes with your landline phone, also (the clicking).........we've talked about that before, too. (Note: I am not saying that GSM is evil)

The GSM "buzz" is one of the reasons I switched to Sprint years ago. I had Powertel (one of the regional GSM companies that is now part of T-Mobile) when it first came out and virtually every phone I had with them not only made stuff around the phone buzz, but the earpiece would buzz as well. It drove me nuts and just seemed pretty cheesy that the technology wasn't better than that. I can't believe that in all these years they haven't done anything about it. Guess I won't be switching back to GSM anytime soon...

If Your Gonna Change The Thread Title I Would Of Changed It To Gsm And Electronic Interferance
