Well, the 5600 has been widely panned for poor performance in low light conditions. It shows a great deal of "dark noise," a phenomenon caused by small currents in the imager. Normally invisible, boosting the limited signal from poor lighting to a level required to create a viewable picture will amplify both actual image data and the noise. Dark noise tends to look a little like film grain, but unlike film grain, tends to have static that falls into strong color deviations into red, green or blue. The switch on the front of the phone is the macro mode selection switch, and wouldn't affect the low light performance of the phone.

Having owned both phones, I'd say that the 8200 does perform better in low light, but you also talk about video. The 8200 can't record video at all, so I wouldn't consider that a fair comparison. Also, the 5600 has superior resolution to the 8200, but that isn't the only thing that makes a photo good or bad.

To improve low light performance of the phone, try setting the brightness manually, moving closer to your subject, using the flash, and just turning up the room lights.

Please use punctuation, thanks. (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2002-10-11&res=l) I don't think anyone needs perfection, (I am not perfect, that's for sure!) but a period here, a comma there, and you'll be much easier to understand.
