They will, about 6 months after we find out it was another huge success for Verizon.

Verizon's "IN" will be a downfall in the end... Mark my words.
Verizon is estimated at losing 23 Billion already over the years because of IN. And the fact that they are now throwing in Multimedia as being free... This will YET again be another downall.
*Cheers* to Verizon going down sooner...

Where on earth does that estimation come from?

Where did you get that number? That's just crazy, what about all the customers who sign up because of it? As far as the improvement to in, all I can say is "Who Cares" I allready have unlimited texting to anywhere, not just in-network. The pictures and video you can only send in-network anyway, so who cares. I guess I don't have unlimited video cause sprint took it away, but it sucks anyway and I don't use it.

If Verizon was losing money over IN, it would've been gone. Whatever they lost over the minutes was gained back one way or another.

perhaps a little off topic. . .
Man, Verizon is a giant and will be around for a long time. I just got finished reading the WSJ and how Verzion is purchasing more and more content for their beastly cable network that I'm sure will put them higher up on the todem pole. Especially seeing that they are trying to acquire special networks only for their cable subscribers. Plus they are trying to get fiber optic networks all over america. All I ever see in the WSJ is Verizon ads and never any other wireless provider (sometimes Cingular). Verizon is HUGE and I am just now noticing that. Sprint really is in no way on the same level as Verizon and might not ever be. Verizon communications now have tv, phone, and internet services while Sprint on the other hand has wireless and phone but plans on spinning off the local part of their phone company. We have a long way to go, but I'm definitely going to stick on the Srpint band wagon because I think they are good for the money.
I might even go out on a limb and say that perhaps one day Verizon would be in the position to purchase Sprint (not the other way around), if the FCC were to allow it.

Hmmm...maybe you're correct now, but I'll tell you, the David and Goliath thing like to happen ALOT with things like this. (Of course, not just cell phone companies)

Yeah, its like trying to compare K-Mart with Wal-Mart.

Verizon is like this.. well oiled machine that can't fail. It just boggles my mind how they do things in which I, from a techie's perspective, deem will be an utter failure and predict they'll end up losing customers. Then the headline turns out to be "Verizon added 13.9 billion customers." LMAO.
I believe Verizon will someday surpass Cingular and become #1 again.

Are you on crack?
Verizon Communications and Vodafone would drop Verizon Wireless in a hearbeat if they lost them 23 billion. This has to be the lamest post I've read in a very long time.
Verizon itself has decreased a debt load of 60 billion down to 39 billion in just two years thanks to its wireless growth engine.
Verizon Wireless alone without its parent companies in 2004 brought in a revenue of 24.4 billion. If you add Verizon's 55% share in Verizon Wireless in their mix, you get a mega telco with a net worth between 95-100 billion. Add MCI to the game, and you know where I'm going...................
Wanna talk financials? Let's go. I'm all for it.

Anyways..........I saw about this IN thing for the TXT and PICs a few days ago.......oh well, I have unlimited.....regardless. Of course, it's nothing against VZW.....it's not a bad idea......but, when you can get Unlimited to anyone, that's better.

I am betting on that latter half as well. I don't even think that it will take them that long to get back in that #1 spot. I will also make the following assumptions: for the continuing future
1. Verizon will obtain and remain #1 because they are the Microsoft of the wireless industry. They have tons of funds and are marking their territory at a very fast rate, especially with all the recent purchases and deals that they are making as a company.
2. Cingular and Sprint/Nextel will always compete for the runner up spot and will always be at each others neck when it comes to who has more customers and the better service.
3. T-Mobile will always be around as well, but never on top. The only way I see them leaving this industry is by a merger (buyout), which I seriously doubt because D.Telecom will not give them up. They will continue to grow, but mainly for consumers who care less about the most advanced technology and more about minutes.

It does suck that VZW charges minutes for data.
I'm not sure VZW cares whether they're number one again. I don't think it matters. ATT Wireless did everything they could to regain number one when it lost it and look how fabulous it's doing.
I see Verizon as an incredibly powerful company with incredible ambitions (fiber to homes???). But it's a primarily regional company, an important region yes, but not nearly so important as it thinks it is (and I live there).
While the cable companies are betting primarily on the cable pipes, and Verizon is betting primarily on fiber, Sprint Nextel is betting on ultrafast wireless connections. Remember the Verizon CEO is the one who wondered to a reporter why anyone would expect cell phones to work flawless in a home. Probably because there's that other pipe running into the home that Verizon is sucking revenue through. The Sprint Nextel spectrum position for deploying 4G data services is unparalleled. It's just the technology isn't ready.
I hear talk of Verizon purchasing Sprint Nextel after Sprint Nextel gets over implementation issues. I hope this doesn't happen. Verizon already acts like an arrogant company, low-balling for MCI, charging its customers a premium for basically every service it offers (which admittedly are pretty good services, IMHO). The cable companies are entrenched and boring. Verizon is large and arrogant. And hopefully Sprint Nextel will be scrappy and aggressive.
I think I care too much about all this . . .

VZW is now feeling the heat and they don't like to be #2 in the country. They are proactive not reactive to new offers. Look at their handset offerings.. Claiming LG to be their best..
