Hello to all.
Have a sanyo 5500 and it keeps redialing and the video camera doesn't work anymore. Bought a PSP plan from Best Buy and they said they won't give me a different phone, I even said I would pay the difference.
I want to upgrade since nothing has fixed this redial issue. I decided on a MM7400, same price on Sprintpcs.com. I refused another 5500. I have a case number from Best Buy (Is CS in INDIA!??!)
What should I do?

LOL!! So, in other words. You basically just want another model phone and are making up excuses to get a different model. Heres a little hint. STOP WHINING!!! Theres probably nothing wrong with your current one, my suggestion is to just USE THE DAMN THING! Jeebus. Kids these days..........

Redialing was a known issue, so I'd say the OP is not whining... Rookie.
OP - I had the redialing issue with my 5500, and a software update fixed it. Not sure about your camcorder issue, though.

What are you on? His phone doesn't work, genius.
Take it in to a Sprint store. If the phone is under a year old, they will replace it. If it is over a year old, you need to be very forthright with Best Buy and insist they replace it. Unfortunately, you may get another Vm4500, and I suggest purchasing another phone and selling it, cutting your losses.
(suggestion: don't buy Sanyo again)

Just get a replacement for the same phone... chances are your original was based on old hardware/software. Get it replaced with the newer version and you'll be problem-free. My 4500 has yet to cause me any problems. If you genuinely want a different phone, go out and buy one. People getting different phone replacements is completely situational, and it obviously isn't the case in your situation.

5 out of 7 of my sister's 8200's had redialing bugs. Only phones 1 and 3 didn't have it. That is NO assurance of quality.

I don't think the OP cares about the 8200.
I don't think the OP cares about the 8200.

LOL! You kids kill me, these days. Little boy, not sure as to what exactly causes your infinite brain to assimilate that I am a rookie. But allow me to rebut. If you are referring to my status here. Umm, genius you became a member after I became one, under this screen name, anyway. Also, as a little known fact, I was on this board, under a different name for over 2 years. Not that I need to explain to you, but I forgot the password and with a computer switch, the old was gone.
Now if you are referring to me as being a rookie, because you **THINK** i know nothing of phones, again you are wrong. (After reading your other posts, im not surprised). Again, not that I have to, but I am bored and feel the need to explain. You see, I work for Sprint. I started on the landline side doing test Engineering, then switched to High Speed data, from there I switched over to the PCS side(at that time it was still called Sprint Spectrum) as an onsite Engineer. Basically testing new phones/services and troubleshooting problems with the old ones, as well as random db/rfu tests on the towers. So, Id highly suggest you save your ego-enhancing "Rookie" insults for someone who may actually be offended by it.
Now back to the topic. I'm well aware of the redial bug as I had this myself. I simply got the phone replaced with another 5500 and have not had the problem since. The OP said NOTHING about ever trying to do a replacement. Only that he wants a different one. Sounds like he's trying to bypass ALL THE OTHER troubleshooting the rest have had to endure and go straight to a new 7400.

you wont get an 7400...if its within 1 year, you get another 5500, and even if its out of 1 year, Best Buy will give you another 5500

Thanks for the help. I guess I will take the same phone. My friend went to BB and got a new model after two of his phones were bad last year. She said the plan changed, but I bought mine the same time he did. Go figure!
Chupacabraa,
How about some constructive converation! The phone does not function properly and I saw it is a lingering problem so yes I want another model phone. When I was sold PSP thats what I was told was possible or else I wouldn't have paid for it, believe me.

You may work for sprint, fine. But that does NOT give you the right to be rude to someone who has an honest concern and needs help with it. Also you need to stop with the "kids these days" thing, considering I doubt that you know how old he is. Or for that matter any other "kid" that you are reffering to.

I was also under the impression that PSP was capable of giving you another phone (for the same price) as long as similar features were met OR give you a more expensive phone, with similar features, as long as you were willing to pay the extra value.

coolqf,
Thats is the only reason that I bought the DAMN PSP plan!!! The BB guy told me the exact thing that you just said.
Chupacabraa,
I am 27 and I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a MS in Engineering Management so your resume still doesn't cover the fact that you jumped in a thread half-a**ed.

At any rate, I was not intentionally trying to crap on this guy. Just get tired of all the threads of people *****ing about wanting a new phone. Some justified, most not.

How did you get sprint to replace it, they have given me the run around for well over a year.

You work for Sprint?! Why am I not surprised! Your personality fits quite well with several reps I've talked to. (Granted: Not all Sprint employees are rude and unwilling to help.)
In addition, your comments sound very similar to the Sprint Store reps when I had broken-hinge issues with my 8100s (yes, plural... I had 3 of them.)
Phones do have issues... Quality Control isn't perfect... I've noticed every once-in-awhile I'll try to make a call with my 8200 and it will just sit there and say "redialing..." -- So maybe this is a bigger problem than admitted.
On a lighter note: Chupacabraa, perhaps you should stop ranting on someone who is having difficulties... Maybe someday you'll find yourself on the other side of the line...

Wow...if you actually work for Sprint then I hope someone from Sprint sees your post. With people like you they certainly don't need any bad reps.
