Hello,

I'm currently with Cingular, but thinking switching back to Sprint. I like Cingular, but I never go over my monthly minutes and because of that. I never use my "rollover" minutes.

Anyway, I was looking at Samsung 740, LG 125 and Sanyo 8200. Which one has better RF, battery, and sound quality.

I would like the camera feature, but not a must.

Thanks,
CoolCSI :)

Sanyo Is Best!

Of those phones, Sanyo would have the best RF...the LG probably has the better sound quality...battery life should be comparable...the best reception/call clarity I have found on Sprint is the Toshiba phone...maybe you can get one used or at Costco...the price has come way down...I would say the 5600 is second best on the RF scale from my recent experience, although that phone is very high end and may be more than you need...the 8200 is smaller than the Toshiba so that is the tradeoff...

A740 has very good RF, nearly the same as the A680, which in turn is a little better than the 8200.

I've had all three of these phones...currently have the VI-125 and I would give the LG the nod over the others.

Tell that to all the nay-sayers that still think an intenna can in no way shape or form get the rf performance of an external antenna.

i know people generally dont like the 740, but i just got it and love it - been crystal clear/extremely fast vision etc....and its TEEEENNY and light :) All depends on what is impt to you - the sanyos tend to have tons more features but are bigger..

Meh, I don't get the whole hang up about phones being big. Hell if they do what they need to do plus more and WELL, it could be the size of my thigh and it shouldn't matter. No offense to you or anything, it's just a peeve of mine for a while.

Anyways, the Sanyo has gotten solid reviews for its basics (I have a friend who, for reasons unknown, cannot get her RL to work =/), the LG looks solid, and the Samsung...hehe the Samsung is the Samsung.

vi 125 fullduplex speaker phone.

I just gave my Smsng a740 to my daughter. The camera, which I didnt need, was the a740s best feature.I currently have the LG 125(for about a week now) and LOVE it. Good battery life, great speaker phone, compact design, good call clarity and reception and an all around great little phone.
Before both,I had the a Sanyo 8100. That was a GREAT phone, just too bulky for me. I would pick the LG over the rest.Come to think of it, I did pick the LG over the rest.

i've had all 3 and went with LG. I chose it because of excellent call clarity, full duplex speakerphone, internal antenna, lightweight and sturdy design :D

I totally and respectively agree with you. Except the part of having the phone waist size. But everything else is good.

I carry around tiny purses all the time, and often hold the phone in my hand when walking my dog, doing errands -- the 740 fits perfectly in my hand and isnt annoying. most people probably dont do all that so it wouldnt be as impt but for a girly girl :) it is - when your purses are the size of 3 740s haha!!!! Also it just fits nice around my face, the bigger phones smush against my head weird :)

LMAO. I feel you on that one. haha

Ah, don't worry, I wasn't knocking you :). But I understand WHY people want small phones. And with the smaller phones, it's the complete opposite, I have to talk into it and then smush it against my head real fast so I can hear what they just said. Not cool at all.

I read a review where a guy says that his mother, sister and wife all had 8200s and the hinges on the 4 phones broke in the exact same manner. Has anyone had this problem? Should I just get the a740? I need a phone that can handle getting punched and thrown across the room when it drops signal.

In that case, you might want to get the 7400.

well in my opinion, i have had the pm8200 and now i have the a740 and i like the fact that it is sorta smaller. The pm8200 was good while i had it because of the speaker phone, ready link, etc... Then once the MM-a800 came out, nearly all of my friends had bought it so i was like the only one with ready link... so i had nobody to cherp anymore... so i recently just got the a740 (i couldnt afford the a800) and i love it. the picture quality is very good, good UI, and a good feel to it. although i DO miss the speaker phone option. But hey, thats what ear pieces are for! :)

My wife has one of those and she will not give that phone up for anything newer. I'm sure if you do a search on here you will find that 4050 owners love their phone probably more than either the Samsung or Sanyo or LG people do. It has a ton of neat features and you can really customize it more than any phone out there today. It has a really big screen but that is why it is kind of big.

You can probably still find plenty of Toshiba VM4050's on eBay brand/like new, if not from retailers outside of Sprint.
