Earpiece volume on Sanyo 5500

The phone has volume settings 1-8 for the earpiece level while you're on a call, but a most of the time level 1 is too low and level 2 is too high. Does anyone know if there is some sort of Master Volume that can be used to turn them all down a little?

havnt u asked this before? or someone? no.. there isnt.. level 2 shouldnt be TOO high.. mines set on 2 and my speaker on 3.. but if all else fails.. headset........

I've never had a volume problem with my 5500...I've just hated how horrible it sounds, no matter what volume it's at. :hee:

I did ask in another thread once but no one responded. And you outlined my problem exactly: level 2 should NOT be too high.

Anyway, I called a store in my area and the tech said she had heard a lot of complaints about the volume on the 5500 and that a firmware update might help. If not, she said that they could possibly order me a new phone.

Well.. volume 2 is a little loud for me too but i got used to it.. haha maybe if i got a new phone it will be different? was she offering you a new model or new replacement?

I think the software update fixed that for the 5500

Well, I went to the store today and they upgraded the firmware from1.010 to 1.011 and it didn't make a bit of difference.

I know you had the 5500 for a while Deval, do you know how common the problem is and have you heard of people getting warranty replacements for it? I've had the phone maybe 6 month and it seems to be getting worse.

I also made a few calls with my brother's VI660 today and it was much better--each volume level made only a small difference in the volume, but ultimately it was a big difference from 1 to 6 (I think it was 1-6).
