Okay, I've been on the awesome Sprint employee plan for 2 years now. When I first started on it, my phone wasn't PCS Vision compatible--so whenever I would use the Wireless Web, it would simply take minutes out of my allotment.
WELL, I last September I decided to upgrade my phone and went for the best available at the time; the ol' Samsung A700.
The problem I'm having now is that they're charging me per KB rate for wireless web usage, because the fellas at the Sprint Store said that with the new phone they have no way of distinguishing wireless web/text msg from PCS Vision and so Sprint cannot just remove minutes from my allotment like they use to.
Is this true? Is it really IMPOSSIBLE for Sprint to distinguish wirelessweb/text message usage from allover PCS Vision usage? Is there no way for them to charge me per minute ever again with this phone??
I mean, if I would've known I would've stuck with my el crappo phone. Because what they're telling me now is I can't use the wireless web/text messaging thats included in my plan without being charged per KB. And that if I want unlimited usage, its going to be another $15.

I don't think it's impossible- Verizon does it, even with their new 1xrtt WAP handsets (but not with their ev-do handsets, which charge a flat fee.)
(For those who don't know what I mean, apparently, on phones like the LGVX6K, Wireless web was not 1xrtt, even though BREW applications were.
So, in your case, I'd advise you pay the ungodly $10.00 a month.

check your model of phone. for your wireless web messages (i.e. sms text messages), for the a700, those should be .10/txt, with no data charges. if your phone is using shortmail, and isnt an a700, then its a different story:
first, the data charges for vision are .01/kb. and you have to consider that shortmail is just a shortened version of email (hence, short-mail), so its basically just data, period. i'm sure there is a way they could differentiate, but then that would change how its billed. as it is, and i'm sure this was part of sprint's original consideration, shortmail becomes unlimited and free with a vision pack, while you only get 100free sms with the pack and then .10 after that.

Vision is free on ALL employee accounts. You may need to contact your indirect sales manager regarding this.

Its not so much the text messages that I'm concerned with. I'm suppose to be able to send 50 free with my plan. Its the wireless web that I'm really upset about, because I was able to download ringers and check my email there. Now I can't without being charged per KB.
But you say that Vision is free on ALL employee accounts eh? I'll be checking that out for sure. I know that my plan is suppose to let me use the web/download ringers/etc without an added fee (except for minutes subtracted from my allotted 750 anytime). Is that what you mean?

It is free. But a normal CSR will NOT be able to add this code. Again, you MUST go through your indirect sales manager (assuming you don't work for Sprint).

you need to seperate wireless web from vision. no minutes are used, period. and the 50free went with the wireless web, not vision. i would do like he advised and contact someone about exactly what your plan includes, and then may call in to business to business and have them check it out.
