Hi,
I've had my 5600 for about a month, it is such an improvement from my old LG 5350 :) I really enjoy not having shortmail, but when I bought the phone the rep informed me that I only get 100 SMS, but on my account info on the Sprint website it says I have unlimited wireless web messages and it counts the SMS I send. I did go back to the store a few weeks ago and say I wanted unlimited, but I dont think it went through on the computer system because my bill is the same price. Do I really have unlimited and not have to pay for them?
Thanks,
Sam

If you looking at the site today, believe nothing it says. A call to *2 will give you the correct information.......

If you signed up for Vision prior to Feb 3rd, 2004, and have not canceled it, you have unlimited SMS. Everyone with a Vision plan prior to that date was grandfathered in with unlimited SMS as part of the conversion from Short Mail to SMS.
Otherwise, if signed up for a Vision plan after 2/3/04, you get 100 SMS included per month, and unlimited is $5 extra. Without Vision, 100 SMS msgs is $5, and unlimited is $10.

Find out what *2 says......but don't do anything about it right away (if they say you only have the 100 a month); you may have grandfathered Unlimited SMS, if you had an earlier Vision plan. That is the way it is on my plan......it shows up as Wireless Web Messages and says Unlimited for Included and Remaining....what about yours?

Yep, enjoy your unlimited SMS, but be sure to not change or cancel your Vision, or else you will lose it !

Also be careful because the current systems that CSRs seem to use does not seem to indicate the presence of Unlimited SMS. I just added a 5th line and had a difficult time proving to the CSR that it should get Unlimited SMS since that's on all the other phones on my account. She didn't believe I had it on any lines. We checked the invoices, and it only happened to be indicated on one line, but its presence on the invoice seems to depend on SMS usage for that particular billing period and line -- it's not indicated anywhere in the plan summaries/options/details.
The only other place I've found it indicated is on www.sprintpcs.com's listing of phones' individual plans and in Vision Home / My Account / My Current Usage / Wireless web messages where it says You have UNLIMITED WIRELESS WEB MESSAGES.
Ultimately the CSR called in a supervisor who evidently showed her how to access some kind of secondary information about my account where she saw the indicator.
Also, evidently Unlimited SMS is a per-line attribute and not an account-wide attribute. One of my phones does not have Unl. SMS while all the others do. This odd-ball is also just $10 AAP while the others are $20 AAP on F&CA, and "we" are reticent to mess with that line lest the AAP charge for it doubles. My bf who uses that line doesn't like text messaging anyway so it's not a problem for me...
Would any Sprint techs like to chime in and edu-ma-cate us on the ins-and-outs of how Sprint systems handle grandfathered plans and options with an eye towards preserving them against recently-trained CSRs?

basically, let me just say that training about grandfathered plans sucks. its more of a catch-on and learn about it when you get on the floor kinda thing. But a quick question to supervisors or any one who has at least a month of experience will tell them what all is included with those plans. as far as for the billing systems, it doesnt show much info on how the grandfathered plans work so we dont get much onfo on it. its all based on the experience the tech has had.

I went thru a problem with a rep telling me i didnt have unlimited SMS and i never had it....so i gave the rep my password to check my account on www.sprintpcs.com and it showed unlimited and they were like....hmmmmmm...so they called a supervisor in i guess and she said well maybe you did!!!! after talking to her and 3 other ppl in 2 hours trying to explain i did and do have it!!! needless to say i got it back YAY!!!! because just this month i sent and recieved a little over 1000 :p ...that would have been a big addiction to my bill!!

Aww, crap. When I got the 5600 as few days ago, I figured since I was switching to SMS, I would need to add unlimited, so I called in and added it on. There's $5 per month down the drain, I guess.
