I've been lurking on this board for almost a year now, and have been a sprintpcs user I think for about 3 or 4 years. A friend of mine has asked if there a way to email (like yahoo web mail) a text message to the phones. I know one can do it with a pager but not sure if it can be down with a phone.
Thank you.

for sprint you can send an email to:
xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com
where xxx is your area code+phone number
this will send a text to your handset and if you have onboard messaging then you can responsd to the email

1234567890@messaging.sprintpcs.com
So if your number is 555-123-4567, then you would email to 5551234567@messaging.sprintpcs.com.
Keep in mind that the text limit is 160 characters.

Can you send a text message to a Blackberry? My husband doesn't use the phone part of his blackberry..so would that mean that the text wouldn't work but I would have to send an email with vision? I'm confused about how that works.
Thanks

You can send a text to any message-capable phone via TeleFlip (http://www.teleflip.com). Just send an email addressed to the cellular number AT TeleFlip.com:
(yourcellphonenumber)@teleflip.com.
Just remember to keep it short. It's free too!

If you read the TOS, you will find, among other things, that: 1) They may monitor (i.e. read) the contents of your messages, 2) They may add advertising to your messages, or later send adverts to you, 3) They may (probably are) gathering information about you for later use.
So if you know the carrier of the person/phone that you are trying to text msg, it may be better just to send it directly through that carrier.

I've been trying to message my phone from my work email, and it hasn't been working.
For example, lets say my phone number is 434-123-4567, I've been emailing 4341234567@messaging.sprintpcs.com and I've been getting System Administrator Undeliverable messages.
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject:
Sent: 4/8/2005 2:20 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
IMCEASMTP-4341234567+40messaging+2Esprintpcs+2Ecom on 4/8/2005 2:21 PM
The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the address. Check the address and try again.
Could my work, for some reason, be blocking messages like this? That would seem really unnecessary. I have confirmed that I can send a message to my work email from the phone, but just not vice-versa.

Can you send text from another email domain like yahoo, hotmail, or sprintpcs email to your handset using @messaging.sprintpcs.com?

Ok, so I have been reading all of these threads on email to text and text to email. I gather that it can be done, but when the message is sent by email to text, how is it billed? Is it considered a text message on the receiving end? and also the other end, if text is sent to email, is it considered text or email for the receiver? The reason I am asking is because I currently have a share plan with my son who has 300 txt and I have the power vision plan. So can we communicate through email to txt and txt to email without being charged extra?

If you go to the settings on your phone and go to Phone#user ID and use the address on the user ID it should work. Like mine is Abcd321@sprintpcs.com and when you go into your PCS mail it'll be there.

Emails sent to xxxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com are charged as Texts to the receiving party.
Emails sent to his sprintpcs e-mail account (@sprintpcs.com) are free IF both of you have a data plan, otherwise its 3 cents per KB (1024 characters) to access e-mail system from Sprint phone. Remember, even if the e-mail text is only 100-200 characters, but with the e-mail overhead (headers, etc) it can add up to several KBs.
So in your case, it will be free to send your son an e-mail (including @messaging.sprintpcs.com), but these will be chaged against his Text allowance. If he has any type of Vision plan, the cheapest is to send him e-mails to his @sprintpcs account. This way its free for both of you.
BTW, since you have a shared plan, regular calls to him will be Sprint2Sprint, and as such free.

Does anyone have the list for all the major carriers?
I know verizon is xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com, but I can never remember the Cingular one, and TMobile has so many different addresses, I can't keep them straight!
