I can't believe people would choose that over dishing out just $9.99 for the LG 125.

Hmmm only advantage I see of the SCP200 is the colors.

I said it before I'll say it again... It's for kids, and that's who I bought it for. I don't trust mine with a phone any more expensive than that.

Edit: I think it's just right for fair and flexabilty! :hee:

Only problem I see wrong with this phone is no vision capability....other then that it is a cute looking phone...nice design...if you dont need vision it sounds like a good phone....you put vision in this phone and i think alot more people would pick it up.....

Where's the speaker phone on the 125???? It's the earpiece? Othat than that the LG is a better phone, feature wise. Although my previous experience with LG is that the weak wears out quicker than a Sanyo.

Umm, why do you say that? No one knows if you can or can't use .qcp ringers. All you need is a data cable...

these two-toned phones seem to be a new trend in sanyo this year.

Where would you put them though? I'm not confirming or denying the fact, I'm just curious.

There's no "Downloads" shortcut on the nav keys, so it would be reasonable to suspect that there isn't even a Downloads section in the phone.

I too think it was a bad move excluding vision. The phone is supposedly targeted towards kids... I'd imagine kids would enjoy customizing their phone with wallpapers, ringers, games, etc. more than any other age group.

Most kids w/ cell phones that i see have ones w/o even a color screen. Those are the ones this is for. They'll just be happy they got a phone that wasnt a cheap mottorolla, nokia, or kyrocera phone that has a green backlight and midi ringers that annoy the hell outta you. But even for them i would probbrobly still opt for the LG

As a kid, I always wanted a phone that did everything under the sun. I think most prepaid services underestimate just how much kids love using things like IM.

yeah well im still a kid (im 15) and i got my first phone n tha 5th grade when i was 10. and even then my first phone was a flip and since then i have had LITERALLY HONEST TO GOD 56 phones....u do tha math, kids like features but i think tha focus of this new sanyo is for parents who wanna give there kids a way to keep n touch but dont want outrageous bills for downloads

Whether it's the v171 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=656), v260 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=550), v265 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=549), v220 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=467) or anything else, I'd take them all over this Sanyo. Motorola and Samsung have the most phones in the entry and mid-level range that I wouldn't mind owning myself.

The v2300, now that's a different story.

The phone is trash plain & simple, don't try to justify it. Its a free piece of garbage. Terrible screen and no vision make it awful even for kids. Doesn't even have a simple external screen. I'd get them the VI660 or spend some cash on them to show them I love them, and get them an LG or even a 740 so they can have a camera. Sprint also has sales on the 8920 for 49 bucks. THe phone is trash.

Personally, if my mom got me this phone, I'd be majorly bummed. I guess I've been spoiled with higher-end phones, but they need to think about the teens and their wants...

I know alot of kids that change their phones ALOT simply for customization. I know if I couldn't have decent ringers I'd be pissed, as with my high school it's about the coolest phone and the ringers (luckily I have really great ones).

No web? No ringers? That's a no-no for alot of kids, even in middle school.

im sorry but thats a pathetic way to get popular, if i got to tha social status i am now by showing ppl my 5600, i would honestly take a hard look at my life and cry...but anyway for everyone saying how big a piece of crap it is, wait till u use it, i have and its awesome (for a low-end phone)... also consider than not everyone has as much money as some of us :eyeroll:

I dont think this phone is aimed towards young people at all, as the young people today are the most tech savey and want the latest and greatest gadgets......I think the phone is for the older person who doesnt know much about the cell phone trend....has no idea about technology....and says, why the heck would i need the internet on my phone....wouldnt know how to use it anyway.....i think the kids get the better phones and the parents will settle for this one considering it wont cost them anything anyway.....

On the flip side, I think this might be the phone bought by the older people who buy phones for young people. I doubt it will be the choice of kids, but if the parents are choosing anyhow... It's the phone for parents that don't want to worry about their kid getting or sending photos to random people. It's perfect for the parent that worries about internet fees and getting charged for a "Baby Got Back" ringtone. Sure, you can disable much of this, but why pay extra for more phone, just to lock all those extra features down? Besides, those locks never really seem to come into customer purchases.

Aside from text messaging, there isn't much that parents can get billed for, aside from plain old phone calls. If this phone continues with Sanyo's trend of offering some really good locking features, I think it's a perfect phone for parents to give their children.

The phone is garbage for all cell phone users. The screen is oh so dated. If you are going to make a free phone, make it be able to replace the VI660. Don't make it worse then that phone, because that phone is already God awful. I love Sanyo, but this phone makes me vomit.

*Anyone know how much the 2300 will be?

The options for phones are there for more than one choice.

Just as there are over 100 different car / truck choices in the world.

People choose cheap over options sometimes because that is all they can afford.

I know over 50 people who don't use 1/4 of the options on the phone they have.

My neighbor just the Treo 650 from Cingular because it "Looks" cool. However, he doesn't even know what an expansion slot is, or what it is for. He doesn't want to play MP3's or Videos or Games.

He just wanted a cool looking phone because it makes his comb over seem less significant.

Heck, my 7400 has RL and I don't use it. But I like the phone and that's all that needs to be said. Right.

I just put my hands on a 200. I must say it was "icky" for lack of a better word. It felt cheap and pitiful. I've seen better "candy" cell phones. I am glad that the order didn't go through. Therefore I must now apologize for being an advocate of this phone. I admit it I was being cheap as all get out, but I still can't see myself paying a lot for a cell phone that I know will get torn up in a few months. UGHH! but sanyo you really let me down this time. :frown:

whoa that's kinda harsh. ppl gotta realize that for others, just having a cell phone is really something. To have one that is color, with speakerphone for free is a plus. the only phone this is competing with is the vi660, and if you've ever had to use that, you would thank God for this phone. In my days at Sprint, the vi660 was the popular free phone of choice. so many problems, so many replacements. now people have the choice of having a sanyo and they will love it.

Motorola is even taking a step back in order to offer a cheaper, entry level phone, the v171.

Motorola is even taking a step back in order to offer a cheaper, entry level phone, the v171.The v171 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=656) is the successor to the old ass v66 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=18). How is it a step back?

Like I said before, there's nothing wrong with entry-level handsets. Infact, if you are a manufacturer without at least one phone that appeals to every type of demographic with every carrier you supply, you're doing something wrong. The v200's price and targeted group of people are no excuse for shotty construction with cheap materials, however. I must say, I haven't handled one myself yet, but if SingSongBird can go from the v200's head of security to someone that disapproves of it, something must be up with that phone.

No camera, just the v200 with PCS Vision (edit: and an outer LCD, supposedly). I'm talking about the prices, though.

v200 is free with a 2yr, 8200 is $99.99 with a 2yr, so the v2300 is going to be $50 I'd assume? Who wouldn't just go ahead and get the 8200?
