So I have a question for everyone. I just got the MM-5600, and I love the AAC ringers, but I am having trouble getting more.

I was using 3GUpload, but it stopped working and said I need to pony up 10 bucks a year, which I think I shouldn't have to pay.

Anyway, so I have read the information on how to make AAC ringers myself, but to no avail. dbpowerAMP does not work on my computer, and I am not willing to buy Quicktime Pro.

Also, people told me the conversion used on iTunes would work, but that doesn't work either.

Could someone show me the light? I really want to get these ringers, but I don't want to pay.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not trying to flame you, but why do you feel you shouldn't have to pay for a service if you use it? I'm quite sure you don't go to work for free very often. Moreover, why should you not have to pay for a ringer of a song if you don't already own the rights to it from having bought the CD, etc.? Yes, there are free sites out there that offer these same products/services out of the kindness of their hearts and wallets, but it is not unreasonable to expect someone to pay to use a product/service that is provided. I too use free sites and don't pay to use any, but that doesn't mean I feel entitled to get it for free. I just choose to use other methods/services.

With that said, the iTunes method I've linked below works like a charm as I have used it on numerous occassions already. It is very simple and straightforward. I have yet to see an easier method.

Switch software works good to convert .mp3's to ACC's.

Go here: http://nch.com.au/switch/index.html

You'll also need to download another codec from their site to convert to m4a.

If anyone has any other tips please let me know..just got my phone 2 days ago
and i know its been said many times on how to do this..

This is what i use for my 5600
what i do is use Adobe Audition...
1) open up the mp3
2) select the area i want to have as the ringer
3) goto FILE ---> NEW and a box will appear
4) choose 44100, STEREO, 32 bit float
5) paste the section you copied into this (you can modify the bass and more here also)
6) then goto SAVE AS and choose the NERO MP4(do a search you have to install this)
-then click on options in the bottom right corner and choose constant rate 56
7) then click save and if you have to you can rename it to .m4a

**i have used constant rate upto 96, and it doubles the size, but the sound doesn't make that much of a difference IMO, and these ringers come out to be about 200K in size for about 25 secs or so

I hope this helps some people
also you can use

to upload to your phone.

Thanks everyone for their replies, and to address SeminoleGrad, I'm sorry if I came off as arrogant, demanding free services due to privilege. I meant to say that I don't believe that services such as these should be of any cost to users. I don't see it as a service that is taxable or requiring compensation, because, if I have the CD or rights to an MP3, I'd like to be able to use it wherever I can. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Thanks! Where in 3gupload are they? I've looked in "Decades" but did not find AAC.

Also, does anyone know why when I save AAC tones to the Sany 5600, the size of the file increases by 40 kb everytime?

For example, the Seinfeld theme I upload is 181 kb, but when downloaded, is 235 kb. What's the deal?! (Anyone get the reference?)
