EDIT: Ignore or delete (mods) if you want; I found a workaround. It's working now.

I've read through the other threads about peoples' #777 problems with the 7400. I've tried everything, twice. The old Gateway tech. in me wanted to bypass all the automated stuff and go set up networking myself; before, with the 8200, somehow I was able to do that. This time, however, the option to choose dialing through a modem (vs broadband) in XP DUN-Make New Connection--is greyed out.

Device manager clearly shows the futuredial mode; query reports communication (although most responses are "not supported"), so my XP system should allow me to choose to dial up through a modem since, by way of the device manager, it is reporting a modem present.

Even freakier--in control panel, when I click on "Phone and Modem" settings, I get an error that I can't open it. I'm researching that now.
I already did the ##USB# thing, updated drivers, tried 8100 and 8200 as well as the generic Sanyo drivers, restarted pc and phone several times, uninstalled and reinstalled SnapDialer twice, etc. BitPim is working fine--haven't tested SnapSync today but I'm pretty sure it works fine (SnapMedia too--these are shown on futuredial's site to be compatible anyway--only SnapDial is apparently not supported, yet, there should be a simple workaround).

This is f'kin odd...anybody been through it?

I've said it once and i'll say it 1000 times.
USE THE 4900 DRIVER!!!!!
I use a XP DUN connection dialing #777 on the usb port where the MM7400 is connected, i've used the same connection no changes with a 4900 , a RL7200 and a MM7400. Same driver and it works 100% everytime.
My advice is always, treat every Sanyo phone as if it is a 4900, when it comes to cables, chargers or dialing the internet.

I used the 7400 drivers from the Sanyo web site on XP Pro, and I have no problems.

Wow. I just got my 7400 this week and was mourning the loss of SnapDialer (since FutureDial's website does not show SnapDialer supported on the 7400). But now I see some have made it work! YAY! --- I was even seriously considering taking the phone back.

What cables did you use? Is it the same cables FutureDial recommends for use with SnapSync and SnapMedia?

I already have the SnapDialer software. Will I need to download some drivers?

I'm so happy to see it can work. I travel alot with my job and sometimes find myself in places where I don't have internet access other than with my phone.
