About a month-and-a-half ago my phone (VM-4500) stopped automatically downloading waiting text messages upon start-up. For example, if I turned my phone off while on an airplane and a text was sent to me while in the air it wouldn't come through when the phone was turned back on after landing. Eventually the message will come through but not until another message is sent to the phone while it is on the network, at which point BOTH will push to the phone.
Before this problem came up the phone had been on Sprint for a little over a year with no trouble and the number had been ported over from AT&T Wireless.
I just realized this morning that my wife's phone (VGA1000 w/AT&T ported number) has been exhibiting this same problem. She doesn't get many messages except for the odd picturemail from me so it's not a big deal for her but it is annoying when a pic I sent 2 weeks ago finally gets through and is completely outdated.
In the last 5 weeks I've spent countless hours on the phone with tech support, filed about 5 trouble tickets, updated firmware, called *2 for PRL, and finally yesterday, swapped the phone for a brand new one (hardware v.201), all to no avail in resolving this issue.
I was told by a rep this morning that I would have to change mobile numbers to fix the problem but I decided to seek a second opinion on that one and have now been told by another tech that a MIN change would not be helpful.
Anyone else have any experience with a problem like this one? Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. I'm at the end of my rope and, short of cancelling and going to another carrier, have no idea what to do next.
