View Full Version : Any success in getting local Sprint Store to honor Amazon deals?

I'm looking to switch to Sprint and get a Treo 650. Amazon has these for $319.99 after $200 in mail-in rebates. Someone on another forum I frequent printed out this offer and took it into a Sprint Store, and they matched it--he got the Treo for $319.99 without waiting for shipping and without rebate hassles.

I've been calling around and my 3 closest stores won't match an Internet offer; the fourth gave me his name and said if I brought in the offer he could match it. Something about the way he said it though made me think he was trying to sound like he wasn't promising--like maybe he just wanted to get me into the store so he could get to work "selling" me.

I'm hoping to see if anyone here has gotten a Sprint Store to match this or any online deal--trying to get a bead on how likely this is to work before making the 40-mile drive.

Worst thing that happens is you wasted the drive and the best is that you get what you want. You have the rep's name and he may have some pull with the store manager to get you the extra $50 off the phone, but I would bet that the other $150 would be mail in.

I called the guy back and told him how I'd talked to 3 other stores and none would honor the Amazon deal and I just wanted to make sure he could do it. He confirmed that I was a new customer, not a business account, and that I would bring in a printout of the page, double checked with his manager and confirmed that they would honor the Amazon price. I'm going in on Thursday.

I did the same thing when I became an AT&T customer. I took printouts of some phone prices off the I'net with me. The store manager did it by giving me "service credits" to make up the difference. This was when I initially signed up for service with them (moved from Verizon to AT&T). So it can be done if they want the business bad enough, they may have to be a bit inventive and it probably takes a store manager's approval (at any of the providers).
