I have a ppc-6600. I am now e-mailing all my vid's / pic's with the messaging / pop email through g-mail.
Plus you dont have a size limit on what pics or vid's you send, and if you do the phone hack to disable the length limit on your videos you can e-mail what ever sized file to whomever. Use any pop mail account you have and save your hard earned money.

I think the point the OP was making is that it's not worth it to *PAY*, period. Gmail is really cool, I enjoy using it. There are also many small programs that let you use your gmail account like an FTP account, which is helpful at times. The transfer speed is much quicker than conventional e-mail, and you don't need a seperate FTP server.
I'm pretty sure this would work on any PicMail or Video Messaging or whatever it's called -enabled phone, since you're basically e-mailing the files anyways.

Well, you can save your password for two weeks on their server, which means it might be easier to sign in, plus 1Gb of storage free, e-mail conversations organized *into* "Conversations", which I'm sure would be easier to navigate on a phone, by having all correspondence between you and them into one "thread", plus it's really fast, at least for the time being, and it has excellent spam filters.

The logic presented makes very little sense, however....if you have Vision, you can have the picture option with no price increase.
If you do not have Vision on your plan, it will get expensive fast...
if you have vision you get ten dollars in downloads each month. if you subscribe to picture mail it reduces it to five.

The catch is G mail is in R&D mode right now, and it's only available to people through an "invitation" from another G mail account owner.

I haven't really gotten to contribute to these boards to much yet so maybe this is how I can do it. Gmail is still invite only but I have 50 invites to send, so just post your email and I'll send you one. It really is great.

I just started playing with this yesterday... per fever's suggestion. It seems to work pretty well... filenames can't be too long and obviously there's the 10MB limit. Glad I used one of my 50 invites for it :D

YEP it works w/ a T650Shoot! I had the Treo, but waited for the 5600 because of the megapixel camera. I almost wish I had just kept it...hopefully the NEXT treo will have the megapixel camera.

Hey you get bad cust svc whereever you go...but you also get good cust svc with any of the wireless co's you get as well - depends who you get to pick up the phone. Even non-wirelss cos. Take Citibank...I get an Indian rep when my wife's purse was stolen...rep wouldn't do jack for me...when I demanded an American rep, I got transferred to one and got excellent service...

Dear All:
Have a Samsung A 700 Multimedia phone from SPRINT PCS. Would like to upload via FTP the image files shot with my cell phone to my web site in a directory which is on a shared ISP server. I would like to use the images on a my web site immediately. Anyway to do this using G-mail or other? Now am sending images via E-mail and having to strip them from the attached files. This works, but still looking for a better way. Any ideas?

say hello to spam!! it will never stop, you will have to stop using that old email... and I guess that's not too bad, since you've now got gmail, but even so...

back on topic... THIS ONLY WORKS ON SMARTPHONES!!! not MM or RL or VM or ANYTHING else... I think it has been mis-represented in this thread....
plus that 10mb limit makes it almost worthless...
one thing that people could look into, is you CAN change the server that your phone logs into to upload pictures and video... you just need to have something that emulates the sprint site, or at least something that is compatible.. I've heard of this in the past, and I bet some of those serious bloggers do something like this.
there would be no way to access ANY wap page, and use it to UPLOAD a file off of a regular phone... and in terms of a JAVA application for the phone, it is IMPOSSIBLE with MIDP1.0 phones to access pictures and video files on the phone... MIDP2.0 is pretty bad about that as well... only time will tell when more developer's kits come out.
