Some questions I have yet to see answereed and I would be really greatful to someone who can answer them - someone who has/had both the 5600 and the 7400.
Compared to the MM-7400, how is the 5600 speaker? Please answer in terms of ringers, telephone calls, and if you have used the 5600 this way, multimedia (internet and videos)? Is it louder than the 7400? Does it have any more bass? Do you hear more or less crackle?
Compared to the MM-7400, how is your reception? More particularly, how many bars more or less (or the same) do you get with your MM-5600 vs the 7400?
PEASE - if you have/had access to both of these phones, please try to nail these questions with as much detail as you can. I am down around 5 days left on my 30 days with the MM-7400. I like the 7400 a lot so I'll be bummed to give it up. However, I have seeen the 5600's demo model. Know the look and feel now and fealt the hinge mechanism and find it to be a notch above the Motorola V551's hinge. No bluetooth and no laptop net is a hard pill to swallow. So at this point, it's 50/50 and is gonna come down to how you guys compare reception and speaker on these 2 phones. $500 bucks is a lot of money so for those of you who answer, thanks - it's an invaluable favor (which I'll surely return this fall cuz Im gonna dive into the next batch of phones early hehe)

Hello,
I had both the 7400 and now have the 5600 and am pleased as punch at how horribly impeccable the speakerphone in the 5600 is compared to the 7400. The 7400 was rather loud and scratchy and mostly people had a hard time hearing me. I'm a Sales Engineer and my Account Executive and I attempted to do a concall on the 7400 and it really didn't go well. All in all the performance as well as the speaker vs. mic are greatly improved in the 5600 and the volume is no longer an issue on my 5600. If you have any more questions please ask me. The 7400 also had other performance issues and the 5600 far exceeds my expectations. If you want my two cents...run as fast as you can and get that 5600. They are in short order at most stores and I happen to get the last one that my store in Pleasanton, CA had. Good luck to you.

Our radioshack only has the demo model and they expect the phone itself to be in at any time.
But what about reception? How many bars (more/less/same) do you get on your 5600 vs your 7400? Before the 7400, I come from the land of the Sanyo 4900. As far as candybars went anyway, the 4900 shouldn't have had a bar meter at all (or shoulda had one painted on it) cuz I never could get it to go lower than max. So now my 7400 is lucky to get 3 bars. Can I expect more bars with the 5600 than the 7400? If I miss one thing about my 4900, it's the impeckable reception. The deactivated phone still sits on my desk because I haven't had the heart to put it on ebay. So how does the 5600 score on reception compared to the 7400?

Is there nobody out there who has had access to the 7400 and 5600 who can tell us if the # of bars you get with the 5600 (in the same areas as the 7400) is more bars, less bars, or same # of bars?

I caution the bias on this question as I remember a while back that earlier SANYO phones measured 'quality' of reception and now the measure 'strength' of reception.
I had the 5400, and the phone was very good to me. I now have the 7300. And although the reception bars are less, 1-2 bars, the call quality is just as good. A plus is that the other person is now easier to hear (could have just been my other phone and not the actual model)

First off bars mean nothing unless you are wanting a Long Island drink ....I have both the 5600 and the 7400 and my 5600 hasnt dropped a call yet/ My 7400 dropped maybe 6 calls in the time I had it....However since my house is technically a dead area I will give the debug readings for both phones side by side.... 5600 is -99dBm and 7400 is -102dBm. If I was to draw a conclusion from being a owner of both phones I would give the edge to the 5600 for the best reception.

Wow. I have a few days to make my final decision (as my 30 day trial draws nearer). I think I'm headed into the 5600 club though. Having played with a non-working demo, I just have to play with a live version soon as Radioshack gets em in. Just wana hear the spaakerphone vs my 7400. That's pretty much gonna be the deciding factor.

Had both phones the 5600 I had gets better reception than the 7400 did. Now this depends on your location, All phones are going to be different even same model phones.

A friend of mine that has a 5600 stopped over to my house last Friday. I tested the db's and his 5600 was slightly better than my 7400. I've compared the db's on 7400 and my girlfriends 4900 and my 7400 was slightly better. The 4900 is one of the best reception phones for Sprint. Upstaris I can get mid 70's to mid 80's with my 7400 which is very good. :) Not sure where the cell tower is but I would asume it's pretty close. I also noticed with I think most phones when you raise the attena and look at the db's the reception is slightly improved. If you live in a low reception area then it might benifit you to get a phone with the best reception but if your reception is good I don't think your going to notice a difference between the 5600 and the 7400.
