I was in the Warwick, RI Best Buy this afternoon and they had the dummy model on display. I asked if they had the actual phone, and after a few minutes of confusion and blank looks, an associate pulled a new phone in a box out of the storage area. I asked how much the phone was and the associate looked in the computer and said $429 + $150 to buy the phone outright, without signing up on a plan. Has anyone else been told ths?

The rep did not know what he was talking about. If you buy outright it would be $429. if you were starting new service it would be $429 less $150.

You really do work with some idiots :).
The $150 upcharge ONLY applies for Cingular/AT&T and Verizon. Not Sprint. Buying the phone w/o rebates is $429.99 (not employee cost, however).

Wrong. Only for Verizon and Cingular/AT&T.

I thought it was for all phones sold at BB.

So the 5600 is $279.99 at Best Buy, after rebates?

Wrong. Only for Verizon and Cingular/AT&T.
So Sprint sells phones to BB at or just above their cost?

No. Just GSM phones and Verizon. Trust me on this one.

Yes, but expect at least a $30 additional rebate next week, if not more.

It better be more. I thought there was supposed to be an incentive to buy it at Best Buy instead of Sprint.

I bought my 7400 less than 14 days ago and exchanged for a 5600 Friday. Is there a low price guarantee that I would be eligible for?

There is: no lines and you can earn points when purchasing from us :). Like I said, expect it at $200-250.

Yeah, let me explain the pricing for Cingular/Verizon:
We already deduct $150 from full price. Example:
Audiovox 8910 listed at $129.99. Full price is $279.99. Basically, we take $150 off those phones already, PLUS additional Verizon/Cingular + BBY rebates.
The v551, for example, is $50 with 2 year activation. Full price is $300. That's $250 off!

So to be clear, I am a Sprint customer, and nowhere near the upgrade time. To buy the phone outright and do an esn swap, it will cost me $429?
