Help with a crank caller....

In the past 4 months, I have received 3 harassing crank calls in the middle of the night from the same individual. The caller's number always shows up as PRIVATE on my caller id. I don't know who this guy is, what he wants, or how he even got my number. I'm sick of this....I feel that this individual has violated my personal privacy. The lastest call was yesterday at around 11:45 PM!

I want to file a police report but first I need to get my ducks in order. I want to trace the private number and get a general idea where he is calling from and better yet, who this clown is. I called Sprint Customer Solutions today and was told by the rep. that they can't do anything? Are they serious? Is this for real!!??

Please help...how do I trace the number and put this guy in his place for good.

well sprint accually can do something about it, i had the same situation and sprint can tell the police who it is but not you unless you want to file a poilce report and hav him arrested for harrasment

theyll prolly do it once or twice for free ... try not to make a habbit of it and abuse it

there is no restriction to keep blocked caller ID's from coming through. You can change your number to a different local number as much as you would like at no charge, just don't call too many times. there is a malicious call trace package that can be sent out to you upon request for this issue. The cost of the package is $20. You have to fill it out and have the police department fill out info and send it in.

Set your ringer up to be silent when you get calls with out or blocked ID. its in the, just send it to voice mail. if he don't get tired and stop maby he will leave a message that you can take to the cops.

A lot of people called in with similar situations when I worked for AT&T Wireless care, and it sounds like Dewmilk has the best solution. Wish they'd figure out how to block blocked-ID calls to cell phones already!

Three calls in 4 months is hardly considered harassing. Does he do or say anything when he calls?

Next time he calls just thank him and tell him you filed a police report and the call has been traced.

UPDATE!!!!

Mr. Crank Caller decided to call again today. It's around 9:30 PM and I'm sitting on the couch with my fiance watching the tube.
My phone rings and the caller id indicates that it's a private number. I immediately suspect it's him or maybe it's my mother? (Mom also has a private number and this is only the reason why I've answered his calls in the first place)

I answer the phone and confirm that it's him. (He has a heavy east indian accent) Below is the dialogue between us and the outcome:


Me: Hello?

Him: Hello, you have just won 10 million dollars from publisher's clearing house.

Me: Ok, great. Just send me the money through the mail.

Him: Ok, what do you plan to do with it when you get it?

Me: Listen very carefully, I'm only going to say this one time.

Me: (((((((((((((((((((((((((((!!!!!HONK!!!!!!)))))))) ))))))))))))))))))

Him: Click! (He hung up)

Me: Hello? Hello? You still there?

Him: ----------------------

I found a small emergency air-horn yesterday while cleaning out my garage.
If you know what I'm talking about, they're VERY deafening loud.
When I blew the horn into the phone, my dog was scared out of her wits and immediately ran out of the living room.

Me and my fiance were brought to tears. :joy: :joy:

This remindes me of my neighbor who used to get frequent mormons knocking at his door almost daily bothering him to no end.

My neighbor is the kind of person who did not want to resort to being a jerk in order to get rid of them, after all, they were trying to do a good deed. But he was a very creative individual and was able to get rid of them once and for all.

What my neighbor did when they came around again, was to answer the door fully naked with nothing but a BIG SMILE :D on him. There he was offering the guests hugs and inviting them to come on in to his house. Needless to say, they stopped bothering him after only a few more sessions.

Hate to get off topic and continue with this, but Joe's story reminded me of my experience with some JWs (Jehovah Witnesses). Don't worry I didn't get naked, but this story is about to what lengths some people will go to win you over. One summer while out of college, I was staying at my parents place. One day while doing yard work, I was approached by two elderly female JWs. I made polite conversation with them (I was taught to respect my elders) and accepted some of their reading material (big mistake). Well the next week they came again with more reading material and caught me as I was going out the door. Luckily I had to be somewhere. Well since I wasn't interested in their beliefs, I figured the next week I would not answer the door. Well they come calling again, but this time in addition to the 2 elderly women, there was a young girl about my age. I didnt answer the door but watched them from an upstairs window. I couldnt believe they were trying to entice me with a young girl in her sunday best dress. Pimping out the congregation. Maybe I should have answered the door naked that day. Don't mean to offend anyone or knock any religious affilitations.

I got rid of the Witnesses in a flash. 2 middle aged Asian women knock on my door and try reading me something from psalms, as soon as she started reading, I cut her off.
Me: Before you starting reading me translated material, maybe I can get an education if you can read it in it's original language. You can read it in it's original message, right? because I can.
Them: Sorry and a 180 degree turn and straight on out of there.
