Hi all! I was wondering if any of you could tell me if I can erase my phone number from my phone. I have a Sprint Sanyo RL2500 that I just sold and I had the number for it switched to my new carrier. Under a couple of headings on the phone it still displays the phone number and since I am using that same phone number with another carrier I would like to erase it from the phone. Is this something I can do or will it only be removed once the new owner goes to activate it? Thanks! :)

Call sprint for the lock code for your phone and zero out all the enteries with your numbers in them. And yes your number will be removed once the new owner activates it.

you need the MSL code for your phone, if you have it, then ##786# (or ##786 > menu/ok > save #) and choose the reset option in that menu

jh101_7, I am not cell phone savy so I had to google MSL code. Now that I know what it is, how do I find out what my code is?

What jh101_7 said is not a full reset.
Take it to the Sprint store...assuming they're not backed up it'll be quick and painless.

how is that not a full reset? I wasn't talking about the lock code and going to 'phone reset' in the security menu.

If it was a full reset, our store wouldn't be forced to pay $25 plus shipping to have them reset....I can do what you described, but it doesn't delete the Vision info.
There is more than one kind of reset.....

MSL can be obtained by Sprint, but i doubt they'll just give it to you. I have heard of ppl posting that they got thier MSL code using the data cable.
Best bet, it take it to a sprint store as Deval said and have the Tech clear the phone.

Psyberian, I think I will do just that, cuz as I said before I am phone tech challenged. My luck is I would screw it up and then have to refund this guy his money.

Yeah I was afraid it wouldn't be that easy (them just giving it to me). :(

Psyberian, What is the charge for having Sprint reset it for me? I guess it varies from store to store, just wondering what to expect, price wise. :)

Jaggrey, no I haven't. I will try it though. The worst that could happen is they will tell me to take it to a Sprint store. Thanks for the idea! :tu:

...for the record, there is no charge for you to reset your phone, however you do it.
Talking about what my store gets charged was irrelevant to you, and I'm sorry I brought it up.
Like Jaggrey said, keep us updated!

If you do not take it to a sprint store and you reset it yourself, make sure that your lock code is off in your settings. If it is, you will lock out your phone and you will have to take it to a sprint store. I did that before and I was totally locked out.

Anyway to do this w/o going to a store?
Go to store, they take your name, ask you to wait anywhere from 5min to 45min. After you're called, you give in your phone and then asked to return anywhere from 45min to 2hrs.
Not exactly something anyone enjoys doing.

thats true...I understand...I'm on the other side of that counter...well technically, I'm not...but yeah...thats the most clear way to reset it.

YES!!!! They did! :woohoo: I am so happy that I didn't have to go to the store! Jaggrey thanks for pointing out the obvious. I guess I was thinking they wouldn't be eager to help since I am a former customer.
jh101_7 Thanks for your advice too...this ##786# (or ##786 > menu/ok > save #) worked! The Sprint lady was nice enough to walk me through it and this is exactly what she told me to do.
******** THANKS TO ALL of you for your responses/help!!! ************

Between Sprint having such great customer service and all of you on here, makes me sad that I no longer have Sprint service. :( My new carrier not naming any names *cough.. Cingular* :D sucks compared to Sprint. So why did I switch you ask...well Sprint didn't have coverage to areas that I visit often and Cingular did.
***** I really do appreciate the help from ALL of you! *****

I just tried the directions above, and you *do* still need the MSL.
I know the OP got taken care of, but for the FYI, the Sprint Store is the easiest and most thorough option.

That's where you type in the MSL. Then it resets everything.

Correct....and that is why they need to go to the store...hard to get the MSL on the phone...like pulling teeth...

much easier to let the tech flash it @ the store...sometimes ##786 may not clear it all, example, N400/A500
