Does anybody know how to make the link function work in the middle of a sentence, using this forum? Mine will only allow me to make the last word a link, so I have to go in and do manual html. This wasn't an issue with IE--hoping there is a fix.

I noticed that Nugo. I thought it was an issue with the forum software, but I guess it is the way FF handles the forum editor. No way that I know of to fix this.

Never noticed that! I usually just let a link format itself.....but I see what you mean. Easiest option is to highlight and drag (it works!) the formatting to the location you want.

Yeah it's not a super huge deal, but once you get used to something....you know....

I can do the click n drag thing...one thing I'm finding that I don't like though is the white alt text that pops up GRRRRR

You talking about the box that pops up with an images alt text? Like...... Nugo's Avatar....when I lay the cursor over it?

yes, but that doesn't bother me so much, it's like, when you go into a thread, and if your cursor is in a position over somebody's signature, for example, then the alt text pops up instantly toward the top of that person's post...I'm used to alt text where you wait for it to pop up, but the instant thing I'm not liking

Ok, I'm going to open the forum in IE....I want to see the difference. :)

Edit: Well, I notice that when you put the cursor over a thread title, it shows you more text from the first post.

The Quicktime that the browser was using is gone......and it didn't know of the switch, I assume.

Have you tried double clicking the symbol? And......does Firefox pop up with the "extra plug-ins are needed to view this blah blah" at the top?

Tried double clicking the icon....nothing. And there is no "extra plugins....." thing anywhere...

I have a random Firefox question. :) How many people have issues with Spyware or Adware since using Firefox? A few weeks ago I did a fresh from scratch install of my lovely :P XP Pro and I have yet to open IE, I've used Firefox since the install and I have yet to have any spyware or adware detected on my system *giddy little squeal*

I'm on a "clean" install, too......only using Firefox :) No adware/spyware

Noodle, I talked about that in a different post... Basically, the reason FireFox is so "good" at avoiding spyware is because it does things differently than IE. Since *most* people use IE, that's what spyware is written for. If more people adopt FireFox, more spyware will be written for it. Yes, I understand there is a "blocker" in place, but circumventing those types of things isn't impossible. Switching browsers to combat spyware is an easy fix, akin to buying a Lexus if you didn't like the price of servicing your Cadillac. Learning how to combat spyware, pop-ups, and other malicious internet problems is the way to go. This isn't an option for some people, unfortunately, which is why there are things like pop-up blockers.

for Quicktime, you need to set the MIME types, and that may fix it

I'm using FireFox right now. I just got a popup, from "a.tribalfusion.com/h.click". It wasn't blocked. I laughed my ass off, which was bad, since I'm in class.

In other news, Netscape 7.2 seems to render things larger than Firefox or IE. Made for seniors?

Also, the scroll wheel on this mouse isn't working in the Firefox window. If that's an issue, I'm NEVER switching.

The scrolling side of my touchpad doesn't work, either......but I don't really care.

There's such thing as Page up & Down.....and arrow keys.......I heard that they worked. ;)

Yeah, I LOVE navigating the internet with two hands, just like it was meant to be...

That sounds bad, lol. Maybe I should have said "I enjoy removing my hand from my mouse to press buttons on the keyboard because the 'Newest & Greatest' doesn't support four year old (or odler!) technology".

That also sounds bad.

I re-tested the functionality of the scroll wheel, it was hit or miss. It seems like the scroll wheel works best when there isn't a visible cursor field, but even without one at all on the page, it will still not work randomly, until you refresh the page, which has a (probably) 50/50 chance of then working, and the same chance after a second refresh. Really weird.

It could have been how it was installed on *that* computer though...
