I am looking for a new phone. Now, I have the 8200 but i dont like it too much. It does not have the greatest signal, plus if I am talking while it is plugged in, I feel sparks on my cheek. I tried different chargers also. Maybe it is on all phones.
Anyway, I am looking at the two phones. I want one that looks really cool. I think the a790 looks like the razr, which is gourgeous. I know the 5500 has mp3 player, buy I have an ipod so it doesnt really matter. Are there any phones that are coming out in the next month that I should know about? Any links? Price is not an issue, I just want a really cool looking phone. Suggestions please. Thank yoU!

I really dont like the look of the 5600, but maybe I have to see it in person. I kind of answered my own questions, but I still want to know about other phones. Thank you again.
did the 5500 really have an mp3 player?? I had that phone and I swear it didn't...maybe i'm wrong. anyways, if you're looking for "cool looking" phones, unfortunately, you won't find them at sprint....the "coolest looking" could be the most different, and the most different would be the LG 325, just because it's a slider. Everything else is candy bar or flip. But in my opinion, if I was just going for looks, I'd go for the LG 325. I think the 5600 is ugly as sin, despite the fact that it's like the Swiss Army Knife of cell phones, and isn't the a790 over $500??? If looks really matter that much, then go for it....I guess?

What about the a800? Is it out yet? Where can I get it? That looks cool. Also, on the a790, it is like the razr in size? It looks thin like it.
dear god don't mention the a800 on this website...you'll get flamed beyond all measure...it's not out yet, you can get it from the sprint store when it comes out, it does look cool, and i don't know about the dimensions of the a790...it probably says on the sprint website.
i lied, here you go:
3.4" x 2.0" x .99"
so that's length/width/thickness

Don't bother wasting your time on the LG, looks like something from 1992 and the features follow suit on it (looks like a N400 slider to me). Slider phones are trouble, my father had two of them and after seeing what happened to him with sliders, I will never use them. I would wait to see what comes up if you don't like the 5600. Thats about your only choice. The 5500 is still a really good phone, along with the 4050. I have had them both and loved them. Just my opinions along with everyone else's.

Or earlier. Or never! LOL. I don't know WHY people speculate on release dates around here...
The A800 is the only "upcoming" model that I have seen anything about that perks my interest. I'm not looking for a new phone until this summer so I'm going to wait on it, but if you're in a rush and need one now the waiting game could get pretty old. Sprint is hard to predict - stuff comes out when it comes out. If you have a phone now that works and you're cool with it then the A800 would probably be worth the wait. If not, hop on the A790 and be the only one on the block with that model. Like others have said, the LG 535 looks cool too but you probably will see other people with that phone every once and a while.
If looks are all you're going for, I wouldn't recommend the 5600 either. Sprint is definitely lacking in the cool looking phones department right now...

i think you have to see the 5600 in person to enjoy it......pics do it no justice.....it just screams power and class.......when i look at my 7400 now it does nothing for me when at the time i bought it i thought it was beatiful....it is funny how there is no loyality to your phones...you just dump them for something better.........i got to play with the a790 in the store......it was ok.......i personally didnt like the top part of the phone...your also going to spend alot of money on phone that is minus alot of features.....it is funny that you mention the razor.....did you ever touch this phone.....it feels like the biggest p.o.s........and the buttons on it are a joke....wouldnt take one for free.......

I don't like the A790's buttons......they are these long, thin metal bars. Plus, it's more suited for the international traveler.

I'd buy the 5600, unless you're going abroad, which is really the only reason to buy the A790.

And if you're willing to spend $1.50 a minute on top of your regular bill.

That is......if you use the Sprint SIM card. Who was it here that tried an AT&T SIM in the A790, and it was actually trying to find a GSM network? (Of course, it was looking on the international freqs). I guess someone just needs to go out of the country, and try a different SIM......to prove this issue.

I would have to agree...the buttons are really stupid...the phone is really skinny, so beware when you put that ish in your pocket...bump into a shopping cart and you'll probably have to get a new one...at the wonderful retail of over $500...and let's not even discuss putting it in your backpocket like some people do...somewhere else, i said i wouldn't use it if you gave it to me for free, but i'm going to change that...i will take it for free and sell it to some poor soul...=) then again...to each their own...

it's not that old.....and not a bad question.
i think it was broose (or someone lse...doesn't matter) that said he got his AT&T SIM to be accepted in his phone. that bein said, the phone only picks up 900/1800 frequencies so it doesn't work in the USA.

I'd like to hear more about using US SIM's in it too :D :P!
BTW the 5600 > all of your phones.

US sims won't work since the phone doesn't pick up American frequencies. the phone should accept the SIM, but that's about it.

"Should" does not translate to "it will"...still no answer from Sprint on "yes, it will" or "no, it wont" accept other than Sprint' SIM card...we know their SIM card will not pick up American GSM frequencies...the question still eludes an answer....will it accept ANY OTHER SIM card but SPrint's...

your response was a tad "sarcastic" tho informative...thx for that..still waiting to see if a new user has tried it overseas with a non-Sprint gsm sim card...not trying to beat this to death but a new response from Sprint suggested it will only work overseas with their card...marketing ploy perhaps to generate more income...they could be more upfront about this :furious:

I've got a question and an answer.
First of all, what exactly does poopsie fly? I see a thong on a control panel of a mystery plane, and being a pilot (private), I was curious.
And, to answer your questions, there is no reason that another SIM won't work, unless it's carrier-locked to Sprint. And seeing as how Sprint is not a GSM provider, I highly doubt that. Of course, if it were carrier-locked to Sprint, somebody should surely be able to give you the unlock code for it. Either way, as long as it was unlocked, you would be able to use another carrier's prepaid SIM.

Or, you could sign up for GSM service in a foreign country and have to pay a recurring bill, but that would just be retarded.
