They might but I havent seen it but a few times in the store I managed...it is fraud. 30 days you will have to pay a EFT its 14 days for cancellation fee to be waived.

To not get charged for the phone you need to return the phone added to your account within 14 days. If you do not return the phone Sprint can charge you for the rebate(150 dollars) since you did not furfill the requirement. If you add a line and cancel service without returning the phone, Sprint can charge you for the instant rebate you got on the phone for a 2 year contract.

In CA you actually have 30 days to return the phone w/o cancellation penalty.
However, if you don't return the phone - you'll be billed the $150 for the rebate you didn't fulfill the requirements for even if you don't get billed for the cancellation fee because you cancelled in time.
Even if you don't buy the phone from Sprint and get it from a 3rd party retailer. It will eventually catch up to you. I've seen it happen. It may take longer than if not bought/returned from Sprint. But it will happen.

don't just buy the phone & then cancel it switch esn it will work call sprint after u purchased the phone tell them you wanna switch # that way you have your new phone on ur old # & your old phone on new numba so when you cancel the will see that phone is already yours because the new phone will still be activated just under your existing number I've done it the past cuz I can never wait 18 months & I can get 10 lines under my name & only got for so far.

^^^^***? Can we have the coherent version of that please?
Do not add a line and cancel it after you get a phone. You will likely get stuck paying both the full price for the phone PLUS the ETF so it will cost $150 more instead of $150 less. THINK, people, about the inconsistencies in sprint CS and you know the worst case is likely to happen in many situations. If not read my sig for more information.
IF YOU ARE OUT OF CONTRACT, and DON"T CARE TO KEEP YOUR PHONE NUMBER, cancel your out of contract line, wait 24 hours, and add a new line with rebate.
Sprint, where we love you so much we will confuse you to keep you from leaving us. :)

once you add a line on to an account you can not put switch an existing number to the new line for 30 days.

^^^You CAN add a line and switch phones as soon as activation is set up without a hitch. I did that when I ported. You will be billed an ETF only when the new line of service is canceled, no matter what phone the number is assigned to.

You can't always switch the lines immediately, some store employees may do it in an effort to get more activations but the process in frowned upon and customer service generally will not do it.

Well, I ordered mine thru TeleSales and was told by different reps when I ordered the new phone that I would be able to switch "as soon as the port is complete". I did the switch at a store. It's not that it CAN'T be done, some reps don't want to go thru the PITA of doing it. I guess it's different depending on where you go/are. Just my experience.

Let me tell you guys EXACTLY what I did since many of you think that it cannot be done. I purchased my 7400 thru telesales on Feb. 1st 2005 and received it on Feb. 2nd 2005. This was a second line added and I now have the 800 family shared plan. The phone already came activated with my new phone number (prefix 556) and my LG 5225 which was my original phone - has the prefix 271. So when I got home (the phone was mailed to my mother's house - which is my current mailing address.) I called Sprint (the reg ole 1-888 number) and told them that I wanted to switch the numbers on my phones and I asked if they could do that and he said yes. It was done within 5 mins and I think it took the system mayb 30 mins to update so that I could use the phone. And that is how it has remained. The 7400 is my main line (271) and the LG is my other line (556) that I keep in my car in case of emergencies.

Stoopit question alert: Can I get the same # on two phones? My old 8100 and the new 7400? Because the 8100 still gets text messages when I get them on the 7400.

If you qualify for the upgrade program and elect to take advantage of it you can recieve a mail-in rebate of $150 for the Sanyo 5600 and keep your same number.

Both phones cannot be active with the same number at the same time. Is that what you're asking?

That happened with one of my old phones also when I switched it -
I was using a Samsung A460 when I was waiting for my replacement LG 5225 and now the A460 (before I traded it in) was getting my message alerts b/c it wasnt activated with another line.
So its possible - not that the two phones can have the same number, but possible about her text messaging issues.

Every text that comes through comes on both phones even though the 8100 is inactive. Oh well, I will just take the battery out before I get in some "Kobe" trouble. LOL
