you muffed up somewhere along the conversion process. when you have your cropped wav file it should be 8khz, 16bit, Mono... the filesize should be about 400kb, give or take a few depending on how long it is. when you drag it to PVconv.exe it should create a QCP file which is about 30-50kb... if these conditions aren't met, you aren't doing it right.
and btw, if you followed the faq to the tee, you wouldn't have a problem ;)
edit: if you need me to walk you through it, aim me at: osu kurupt

I have the same problem - qcp files are 0kb.

In the future, please search. I did a search for "0KB" and came up with plenty of helpful threads. Here's one to get you started:
OK, I found the problem. I was running version 3.0 of pcconv.exe. When I switched to version 3.1, available at http://www.cdmatech.com/products/purevoice.jsp then when I made my qcp file it did not come out 0kb and when I sent it to the phone with focus it accepted it as a ringer.
So, check if you have version 3.0 and if so switch to version 3.1. Also the format of the wav file should be mono, 8 kHz, 16-bit. This is from the readme file that came with the pcconv.exe program. Some people here have erroneously reported that the file should be 8-bit 16khz.

Not erroneous ... I have been making mine with 8-bit and 16 khz for 2 years ... Sounds like it works for either setting. Shall we test it?

I have already tested this a bit this morning. I found that you can drop many different bitrates onto the pcconv.exe and it will always produce the same size qcp file. I had one wav file, 16-bit 8kHz, it converted to a 43kb qcp file. Then I took the same original wave file, saved it as 16-bit 22.05kHz and dropped it on pcconv.exe again. It produced another 43kb qcp file which sounded the same. I didn't try different word sizes (8-bit vs 16-bit).
These qcp files are ok for ringers but the sound quality isn't that good. For music clips it really deteriorates the quality. But for some Star Trek sound effects I found they come out not too bad!

Yep .. I just tried 16 bit, 22050 .. and got the same results, tried 24bit, 22050 and the file went to zero ...
Yeah, the quality sucks bad ... and shoot, if you have an MM phone, what the heck are you doing with qcp's ... unless you're doing what I do ... make 'em for others?

Can I use some other file type for a ringer? Like an mp3 file? This phone is pretty new so I haven't figured it all out yet.

Thanks to Louie, I discovered the mm-7500 can use m4a ringtones. These are WAY better quality. No more qcp for me!
