With the recent release of the 5600, we're all caught up in that (myself included), but just curious, is there any new news on the release date for the a800? That's one of the big things that's making me not go out and jump on the 5600, among other things, but if the release date is way away (which I hope it isn't), then I don't know if I'll be able to hold out...
So I called sprint and they said they don't have anything on the a800, but something interesting was that the lg 535 is coming out mid-april, and something about a sanyo 2300 scheduled for mid-march.

Who cares??!?! The 5600 is here....... a800 isn't, it's not even on phonescoop yet.....

The A800 is not on phonescoop simply because Rich does not have detailed battery information and such. Rich posted a complete A800 mini-review from CES 205 in one of his articles.
Samsung said mid-march in early January, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. It was FCC approved 2 months ago, so the only thing holding this phone back is Sprint.

Those aren't of the A800 man. Those are South Korean and Japanese hansets with the same 2MP CCD camera's in them. Here are some A800 pictures for you:)
I will have more FCC pictures shortly in the comming days.

When did the 5300 come out? I thought it came out in August... oh well. A year is a long time to go. I wish I had purchased my Vm4050 back in December (instead of staying an extra 6 months with Cincy Bell (AT&T) ) , because May is so close.

I had my 5300 from right around when it came out (And it was $350 or so).......till Dec. '04. Only reason I got a new phone was because the PM-325 came out. (And, secondly, the 5300 screen went out). If the 325 didn't come out, I'd probally be using my 5300 still. As I've said before....I'm a phone suffocater! :hee: That's the reason I have not had as many phones as most of you.

That's what the nice lady with the texas accent told me. She was kinda surprised about it as well, cuz she was looking at her screen and said it just all of a sudden appeared...."Sanyo 2300 - Mid-March." So she went to the Sanyo site and couldn't find it there.
And yeah, the 535 should be mid-april...although I forgot to ask about the 545...*shrug*...

Speech-To-Text Voice commands, QVGA display, and an internal antenna are all added from the LG. The only thing the LG commands to the A8 is it's memory card, and even that ain't going to win many over in the slider market against the A8.

The S250 is reminiscint of the N270, although MUCH more feature filled. Samsung at CES 2005 said they are planning a 5MP phone for the US by years end. The likely base for that model is the Korean market S250. We'll hope for the best:D

does anyone hav pics of the new LG or the sanyo coming out soon?"The FCC today approved the unannounced LG LX-545, a new slide-style CDMA phone from LG with a chipset supporting CDMA EV-DO high-speed data. The phone appears to be the successor to the announced (but not-yet-released) MM-535 for Sprint. Documents and photos on the FCC web site confirm an EV-DO chipset, a 1.3 megapixel CCD camera, and a TransFlash memory card slot. (Compared to the 1xRTT chipset, CMOS camera, and miniSD card slot of the 535.) The documents also mention Sprint multiple times, and photos show the device with a Sprint logo. Less-reliable draft documents indicate the phone may also sport a QVGA display and up to 64 MB of built-in flash memory. The phone appears to be otherwise similar to the 535 in both design and features." Phonescoop (http://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=1116)

bluecoyote
03-05-2005, 07:08 PM
The LG 535 will have a speakerphone, which is more practical for me than a business card scanner, but add in a 2MP camera and QVGA screen, and the LG looks to me like a very hard sell- it's priced within $20.00 of the A800!
If the LG 545 turns out to have a QVGA display, sign me up!
tuolumne
03-05-2005, 08:05 PM
The LX545 is a long ways off. We know that LG handsets are always approved by the FCC a minimum of 6-7 months before they are finally released, if not more.
I know that looks are subjective, and in my opinion, the 545 is not quite as good looking as the 535 is. External antennas on both are a dissapointment, although they can be easily overlooked on the 545 when you weigh in the EV-DO functionality.

Dear tuolumne,
Thank you for your interest in newly launched Multimedia Phones by
Sprint.
We have launched PCS Multimedia Media Phone MM-A700 by Samsung.
However, as you are concerned about MM-A800, I wish to inform you that
launching of this phone is under process. I am sorry as a tentative
date can not be provided.
Before launching a new handset, feasibility analysis is done. We check
the phone on our network to avoid future malfunctioning which may cause
inconvenience to our customers. This testing may take days or months.
So, it is not possible for us to provide you with an exact date.

I hate playing devil's advocate but....
Is anybody concerned about how large the a800 is? And although the 2mp camera is obviously the best yet, I think the jury will be out about the actual pic quality until we see real pics from the phone. I know phonescoop posted a couple but to me those were hard to tell from.
Just wondering what everyone else thinks.
