"Bluetooth" Vs. Changeable faceplates.

Of the two, I'd pick the LG... it's something different.

the lg is better, but not great. i bought the 740 to replace my sanyo 8200 and then exchanged it for the lg, and returned it and am back to my sanyo, which is much better than both.

he said he couldn't tell the diff between samsung phones when pointing out his mistake between the 740 and 7400.. that's why i said... ahhh forget it. :D

i'd go with the Samsung simply because it's a flip phone..

That might depend on the headset, also. I haven't tried any others, but the only time my Scala disconnects from the 325 is #1 When I say and #2 When I move say...25ft away or so.

But....alas, it is slow. However, picture uploading seems to work at a good speed. And the interface is GRRrrrreat!

Do all of the new phones have an onboard interface for Picture Mail? (instead of the website) I never looked...

Wait... I thought the A740 had changeable faceplates. That's where I'm confused. Not like it matters.. Samsung might as well make one whone and put duct tape over certain features and resell it as a lower end model

Why not leave it on Automatic? Or is Sprint's signal just really faint?

Mine roamed only one time (before I switched it to Sprint Only.....no coverage problems in Houston...for the most part), and it said Digital Roam.

Hey, Deval, I wanted to ask you about the LG 325 camera phone. Do you have pics taken by it I can see? My 325 takes worse pictures than my Sanyo 8100. I was going to return it to see if I have a bad camera...but then just yesterday I discovered the "Fine" Setting for the camera...so the jury is still out.

Overall, I love the lg325 but am very disappointed with camera quality....is it just me?? I am just shocked that the 325 would be worse than the 8100, a phone that came out almost 2 years ago...anyone else here feel the same way, or have any experience of the 8100 vs. 325?

Well, since the 5300 and 8100 were pretty similar to each other,

I'll say that it's too close to call.....one thing that is missing on the 325 is the flash. And the flash did actually work well on the 5300. But, when there is fair lightling, I find that the 325 does take pretty good pictures.

Perhaps when I have the other 5300 laying around....I will take a comparison shot of the same thing in the same light.

Because the A740 has a roaming only feature (digital and anolog). On the LG, you can only force it to anolog roaming.

I know that the OP has made his desision already, but in retrospect, choosing between the A740 and 325 really depends on whether you'd rather have a slider or a flip form factor. Granted the LG does have bluetooth, but the Samsung still has better RF and is a flip, which some people would care for more than bluetooth. Yes, I know that is hard for many of you GSM-ers to hear, but most people have no idea what bluetooth even is.

Yep, most people don't know what Bluetooth is.

If I win the V-day sweepstake A740, I'll see which is better in the RF dept. :hee: No RF problems with my LG.....of course, there are no coverage problems (in general) in Houston. Therefore, I don't need to worry about roaming....as much.

P.S. Both phones have the "Roaming Only" mode, according to their respective manuals. Forces to phone use roaming period....digital or analog network.

When I say RF being lesser, I am referring to the LG switching into roaming much before any other phone regularly would.

Best of both worlds in my house. I have the 325, my wife has the A740. I like the menus on my phone better, but we can accomplish the same stuff with a little more work on her phone. In particular, I like the "add number" item in the Contacts on the 325, since we know people with far too many phone numbers (a home number, work number, work cell, personal cell, other work number at a different office, SO's cell when they don't have theirs on and I know they're together someplace). Far as I can tell, she only gets a total of four numbers or something like that.

And when we're together, she can take pictures when a flash is needed. Otherwise, I have to use my keychain white LED flashlight ;)

yeah, i just got the 325 and my wife has the A740. i'm not too thrilled with the quality of the pics from the 325...esp. compared against the A740. the flash does make a difference. there's something about the grainy quality of the 325 photos that just don't do it for me. i've already switched over to "fine" and it's not much better. right now we're trying out both phones to see if we'll both have the 325 or the A740, or just leave it as is (me w/ 325, her with A740).

I'd go a740. The 325 is nice, but I like the design of the a740 better myself.

I know you must have removed the plastic off the cam :hee: It is blue, afterall!

The 325 does take good pics.....it just needs light. :(

Oh....I just thought of something........depending on the light you are in......well, let me show. Has anyone ever pressed up or down on the directional pad while in the camera?

Look at what it does... (lowlightB is when you press up twice.....highlightD is when you press down twice) You can see what kind of light it was in by the image name.
