I got my phone about a week ago and tried the "Software Update" option, to which the phone promptly downloaded and installed an update in all of 15 mins. However after the update is done, now when I try it again, the phone stays stuck on the yellow "Checking for update" screen and doesnt budge. The phone isnt locked up or anything, but it just doesnt stop looking if it doesnt find anything. Has nayone else had the same problem?

Nothing is wrong with your phone. Mine does the same thing, as well as everyones (I assume). I believe that means there are no updates currently.
Usually, it will just say "Update Package Download Failure"......but sometimes, you can get it to "try" to update.

Yeah, mine does the same thing. It is just doing that because there isn't an update to get. Sometimes it sits there for awhile, other times after 30 seconds it throws a download error at you. There isn't anything wrong with it.

It's probably that the updates server still isn't really ready for primetime. Most likely the phone sends the request, the server sees it's up to date, and then does nothing. It should return some message that no update is available or something.

Well, if that's the deal with everyone's fone, then I dont have to worry I guess, thanks for all your responses, I hope they streamline the update process and make it better.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Sprint's support computer network is utterly incompetent, and they seem to have no interest in fixing it. It's the source of most customer service complaints (where CS and high reps don't have access to software options that would correct the problem) and I'll bet $5 that update is on the same servers.
