Here is what I have to say about this phone:

I had it 2 days. made a trip that consist of 260 miles round trip. The 740 dropped more calls than my 8200 and your right, Battary life sucks. The only work around is a car charger or extended life battary.

I exchanged it for the LG 325, although nice phone, its reception was not on par with my Sanyo, in short, Im back to using my Sanyo and will never again pay full price for a cell phone (which I am waiting on sprint to put back on my charge card as we speak).

I use the 740 as my second phone. like the 760, the 740 battery sucks. that's my only problem with these phones. sound quality is great and the speaker phone on the 760 is much better than the sanyo phones. samsung needs to get with it on battery talk time and have more phones with ready link.

Im a little leary when it comes to dropped calls, because theres so many factors involved. Have you taken your 8200 on the same trip, talked to the same people,at the same time?Where they on cell phones? Weather?too many factors
My 740 gets better reception than my Sanyo 8100.Bottom line.As far as battery, yes it sucks, but instead of charging it every 3 days I need to charge it every 2,not a big deal for me. I never felt it get hot though.I did have a problem with sms at first.I would recieve then as shortmail.I took it in and they exchanged it,now its fine.

Very different phones. My wife has the 740, I've got the 325. She hates the small buttons on my phone and says it's harder to hold when talking on the phone. I like the flash for the camera on her phone, but love the Bluetooth on mine (for some reason, the best ops for pictures with us tend to be with our friends in places where they serve adult beverages, where by tradition there is a lack of adequate light). I like not having to open the flip every time the phone rings. I'm soooo over the whole "Star Trek Communicator" thing. She noted the short battery life on her phone for the first time today. She came up with the charge every night idea on her own rather than whining about it.

I made a mental note that this is a good thing. She's got the charger by her computer and doesn't have to dig the phone out of her leather jacket, which isn't easy to find in a house where all the furniture and other clothing is black, when someone calls in the morning (which in our house is any time up to noon--we work late hours). Now, when the phone rings, she always knows where to look for it (or...I know where to look for whatever is making that annoying ring so I can answer it for her and run across the house to hand it to her) :D

In any case, they are profoundly different phones on many levels.

I imagine that we'll obtain an extended battery for her phone eventually, maybe when we can find the cheap exploding aftermarket batteries (which have never exploded on us on any other phone or LiIon device). Or she can use my spare USB battery extender with her data cable in a pinch if she remembers to carry it with her.

I looked up the specs for the A740. They claim 8 days of standby time! I'd like to know how anyone can get that? Does the low battery alert simply kick in long before the usable life of the charge? I'd settle for 4 days of standby time.
