At one time when a Sprint Costumer left me a voice mail it would play their recorded name before the message. One day it just stopped working, now every voice mail just gives me the phone number. I called CS and they had no idea.

Any ideas would be helpful, Thanks.

Odd...

Still works on my end. For people's Voice Mail.....and for Sprint Voice Command.

It will only say the person's name if they recorded their name.

exactly, if the customer went back to system default and didnt record their name for the phone number part it will just say the number. Then again if you dont want to listen to the info their is a way in the voicemail settings to just hear the message and not the number it came from.........

...that would be the "administrative options" section of voicemail....

While we're on the subject of administrative options, I wish more people knew about the options that make Claire's sister stop instructing callers about how to leave voicemail and how to leave a "page" rather than a voice message.

It's under Personal Options (3), Greetings (3), Personal Greetings (1), Caller Instructions (3). If ya turn 'em off, VM plays your recorded greeting followed immediately by the "beep": much more caller-friendly.

Also, if you turn off Message Date and Time with Personal Options (3), Administrative Options (2), Message Date & Time On/Off (3), then when you listen to your voicemail, it just plays the recorded messages themselves. You can always get the caller ID and date/time by pressing (1) during message playback. (Also, you don't have to re-hear the caller ID and date/time when you press (4) to repeat the message.)

Finally, I really like Expert Mode with Personal Options (3), Expert Mode On/Off (4). I wish the rest of Sprint's systems had this mode ;-) (Though Voice Command, thankfully, does!)

Voicemail customization is one of the things that Sprint has done really well.

It automatically turns it off once you record a full voicemail greeting...

at least it did for me.

Yep! Just wait for the sound, and go! And if ManClaire hears you wrong, just say no.

It will only say the person's name if they recorded their name.

It still will not play there name even if they have in recorded in the system. I have had the same person call another sprint customer and leave a v-mail and they hear the recorded name but I only hear the number.

rdj Thanks for posting that info, I with more people would use it as well.

I am still having this problem. I always here the persons phone number no matter if they are a sprint customer or not. I called CS they have no idea.

Only time that ever happens to me is if they haven't recorded their name :-/
