My Samsung VGA 1000 phone freezes and restarts after trying to download a image or ringtone. It started when trying to download a file I sent from Focus Uploader on this site, but I believe it freezes and restarts from any site I try to download a file from.

How can I fix this problem?

TIA,
DiGiTY

last option would be to have the tech in a store refurbish the phone, which may help that. they can back up your phonebook before they do that

i had 3 of the vga1000's and they all did the same thing and i got a sanyo 8100 as a replacement and no problems at all

I had an Sanyo 8100 and upgraded to the Samsung VGA 1000 and I don't wanna go backwards.

Since this seems to be a common problem, isn't there a fix for it besides refurb'n it?

not really a common problem...may have corrupted some memory with bad file?

Good idea. I deleted the last file I uploaded to my phone with Focus Uploader and was then able to success upload another file with Focus Uploader. But when I tried to uploader another file, it froze and crashed again.

So it seems like there's a limit on the number of files that you can store on your phone from Focus Uploader. Is this true? Is this a known issue?

Well every phone has a certain amount of memory, i don't know what it is for the vga1000....but I wouldn't really call it an "issue" since all phones are designed to only be able to hold X amount of information.

it's not likely the problem has to do with the focus uploader, unless you are successfully able to upload from other sites like 3gupload, etc...maybe you've maxed out your internal memory? Although you should be getting an error instead of the phone crashing, this could be part of the problem...try deleting two files...if it lets you add two others of similar size, you're probably at max capacity right now...

how many files in total do you have saved? for example, the LG 5350 only saved up to 64 files, even if you had more total memory left

The same thing happened to my VGA1000. Took it to the Sprint store and had to erase ALL my downloads. EVERYTHING, EVEN THE PICTURES. It sucked but it fixed the problem. You might want to try that.

I did try deleting some ringers and screensavers and still the same problem, so it's not an file limit or capacity issue. There's 240 K free of 1000 K. It's that third uploaded file. I can't download from other sites neither.

I really do appreciate the advice and help so far.

Any other ideas?

Could it be the number of not trusted files, specifically is there a limit on that?

Ok DiGiTY, I know you read my reply but I don't think you're feelin' me. I'm not talking about deleting "a few ringers and screensavers" I mean you need to go into the Security settings and delete ALL of your downloads...EVERYTHING. It may sound like something drastic you don't want to do but it has to be done.
