When connected through #777 does battery life drain quicker when more data is being sent? For example - will battery drain quicker when downloading at 12k/sec than it would just sitting with a ping running? Anyone know about this?

I would think so. The ping is just a low level background thread. With downloading, some activity is actually taking place, and that will dreain the battery more.

Some other more technical members can chime in.

Every packet that goes out has to dump a bunch of current to the transmitter. And CPU cycles to process incoming packets likewise chew up lots of power. This is partly why those charging USB cables are so crucial. Otherwise your i500 battery would be chewed in no time when doing Vision.

When doing Vision on my laptop through my i500, without a charging USB cable, I estimated I couldn't sustain more than perhaps 10-30 minutes on the slim battery. With the charging cable you can of course run forever...

Yeah, I didn't think of having a charing cable until I got my new phone. I could plug power into it while I had USB cable in(the a500) not possible on the Sanyo 4920. However I can get about 5 hours off a full charge using vision.

Is there a "charging cable" available for the Samsung I330 or Treo 650?? I use the cradle for the I330 but this "charging cable sounds like it would pack smaller for traveleing.
