*PHONE UPGRADE QUESTION*
I current have a Sanyo 8100 on a 1000 anytime plan for $40.
I'm looking to upgrade my phone to possibly a Sanyo 8200 or 7400. Now there are issues that I've read about on this forum. 2 of them, which particularly caught my attention are earpiece clarity and the redial/dropped call issue.
Can anyone clarify how much better the earpiece is on the 7400 vs 8100/8200?
In regards to the dropped call issue, I've read much about customers getting defective units and returning them. I plan to get mine at costco and was wondering if there's a easier way to get a non-defective phone
Also, can anyone comment on the speaker phone quality between the 8200 and 7400. I tried both speakerphones at radioshack and it was quite obvious that on the loudest setting, the 8200 was louder. But in regards to clarity, does anyone know which one is better concering both, the receiving & sending side.
*SMS UPGRADE QUESTION*
I currently hate shortmail with my 8100 and soon enough I will be able to use SMS once I upgrade to a newer phone (8200/7400).
Question is: If I add vision to my plan now with my 8100, I will have unlimited text messaging, correct?
But If I later upgrade to a phone with SMS, will I still have unlimited without having to pay additional fees?
Thanks Guys! ;)

Also, if you add unlimited text messaging (shortmail is actually covered by an unl. sms plan code) to the 8100 now and change to an 8200 you will have unlimited sms.

the price for me to add 100 text msgs to my 8100 right now is $5/month and another $5 ($10/month) to make it unlimited, correct?
now according to what you're saying, there's no difference if i do it now bc either way its going to cost me $10 for unlimited now with the 8100 or if i decide to add it later with the 8200.
what i really wanna know is how can i add text messaging to my existing $40/1000 anytime plan without any additional charges or minimal charges?

I have a sanyo 8100 and have had my phone for over 1 year. I am eligible for my upgrade on July 1st. I Looked online at my current usage for wireless web messages it says unlimited messages (it shows 287).
Does this mean that when I upgrade to my new phone I will have unlimited SMS? I do my messaging through AOL instant messenger. I have Vision.

I think it's hit or miss. One of my old phones was the n400, always would show "wireless web messages" as unlimited. Bought the Sanyo 8200 and that chanced to 100 wireless web messages. I paid $5 more to have unlimited added. I was afraid if I called and *****ed about $5, somehow it would have cost me more

why call retention? there is no need to...you would have to pay for the SMS usage, just like others...I mean, if you had gotten vision back a year or two ago, maybe you would have been grandfathered in, but now you would have to pay just like everyone else

Not hit or miss when you buy a picture phone...the reps are changing the old vision code to the picture pack because most dont have a clue on grandfathering rules... :D

hmm...it depends...when did you get vision added to your account? I believe the cut-off date was back in Jan of 04, if not earlier

it all depends on what vision codes are on your account.

I had the same thing...........Unlimited, listed under Wireless Web Messages. It changed only after calling up to have the SMS "fixed" to work with the 325.........hmm, I just looked now.....and it says Unlimited again :hee:

Is there a way to tell what vision codes I have? Where can I find this information at? How do I tell?

to know for sure you should probably dial *2 and ask the chucklehead who answers what you have. Anywhere else you will be told the name of the service (website or invoice) but not specifically which code is used.
