I want to purchase a new phone and was looking to buy the 8200. When I went Radio Shack I saw the LG 325. I didn't realize how small and cute it was...I was wondering how the 8200 compared to the 325? camera? reception? My phone now has serious echo issues. It is driving me crazy!

I love my A-680, the 700 looks like it's from the 70's.

I cannot speak for the 325, but I love my 8200....
Since I had my first 8200, (which my fiancee now has since she dropped her 8200 in the bath tub....ugh :-) ) ive tried the treo 600, 4920, the A700, the T608, and the 6225..... (Still have a T608 and headset lying around if your interested.....)
Guess what phone I am now using? An 8200 :-)
I love it. Easy to use to take pictures, RL, speakerphone, size, signal, and build quality. Mines all beat to hell from work and normal use (keys in the same pocket), but its still working like new.

i had two lg 325's in two weeks. i wouldn't get one if i were you. i think you should definately go wit the 8200-speakerphone, flash, better reception. the 325 is a good lookin phone but it isnt very reliable. i had many droppped calls and i didnt have a good signal anywhere. the 8200 has proven to be a good phone for the price.
for about 30 dollars less you can get a pm-8920 though :D

I went from an 8100 to the 325 and I'm very happy. I'm not interested in ReadyLink, but I appreciate how much smaller it is. I also find the slide much easier to use and more comfortable to talk on.

Reception on the 325? GREAT ( for ME.....I didn't say all)......I don't know all of the things affecting signal reception in every area..........but there is no problem for the 325 around here. Audio is loud and clear........"MP3" Ringers . Bluetooth (great for cordless headsets). In the end........Go to a Sprint Store.....try them out.
Think of it as shoe shopping.........if it fits (YOU), wear (use) it.

the camera is good on the LG...and its a nice small phone...but according to the users here, its still buggy, so its kinda like what is the lesser of 2 evils

Well, I have used both phones. I will say you can't go wrong with either one. The LG is great for me because I already have a BT headset to use with my Treo. The bug with uploading pictures was fixed in the new firmware released a couple of weeks ago. The LG also has better sound quality in my opinion. The biggest drawback for the LG for me is the so-so lcd screen, but it really doesn't matter since I switch to the LG for the places I really don't feel like carrying my Treo. Also, the LG reception is not quite as good as the Sanyos. But, this actually works out better in fringe areas and makes it easier to make roaming calls instead of trying to lock onto a very faint SPCS signal.
The 8200 has a better User Interface and it is also seems a bit "snappier" when navigating the menus. I personally found the 8200s audio quality to be distracting but my sis-in-law and her husband really love thier 8200s.
I hope this helps a bit.

I had the Sanyo 8200 for 4 months, then I just recently switched to the LG-325 in December, as the LG rep sent me a free to try out.
I'll tell you my likes and dislikes about the 8200 first. Please keep in mind this is my opinion, not fact. I consider myself a phone guru as I've had almost every Sprint phone since day one and try new ones out on a regular basis.
The 8200 was very reliable, durable, and a great little package. I liked the menu interface as it was quick and intuitive. The speakerphone was nice to have in certain situations, and text messaging was quick and painless along with the way T9 worked. Signal strengh was good and I rarely dropped calls. Ready Link was always fun to use when a new friends of mine would get another RL phone. Lots of storage space for my ringers and screensavers also. It always had a nice solid feel to it. I recommend them to all my friends that are looking to upgrade their phones.
I really don't have many complaints about the 8200, as it is a great little phone. I would like the ringers to be louder, along with the earpiece. The earpiece is a little muffled too, and makes people sound monotone. I didn't notice this as much, until I switched to the LG-325, and heard the difference.
As far as the LG-325 goes, it was a gift from the LG rep and I was thrilled to give it a try. I wasn't going to buy it though, as I'm waiting for the 5600 instead. The LG-325 form factor is great ! It doesn't feel as solid as the 8200, but it is light and easy to drop into your pocket. The bluetooth works well with my PocketPC (however it times out too quickly). The bluetooth also works well with my Scala-500 headset also, but the sound quality isn't all there sometimes. The cordless convenience is nice. You do have to turn your handset volume to low, in order to get rid of the echo. The user interface is slow, and I find myself waiting for the phone to catch up to my inputs. This is annoying sometimes. The phone does have a hard time staying open when on calls, and I have closed it on accident a couple of times and hung up on people. You get use to this and change the way you hold it. The sound quality on the LG is nice, and it is loud ! The tip calculator and alarm clock are very nice, and I have used them both often. I really miss the 1 beep ring, like I had on the Sanyo and what most Samsungs offer. Even the lowest setting on the LG ringer is too loud. when you are sleeping or just want to be alerted that a call is coming in, but your not going to answer it. The T9 is annoying on the LG, you can't scroll through other words if T9 picks the wrong one. One example of this is when you type in "me" it always picks "of" instead, so instead of hitting up or down like on the Sanyo where you can pick other word options if T9 doesn't pick the right one, the LG doesn't have that, so you have to change it into ABC mode instead. That is annoying !
The camera takes nice picks, but having a flash would be nice. I miss the flashlight feature on the 8200 too. I have dropped a couple of calls on the LG, but nothing too bad. Even with 1 bar or 0 bars of service the LG will hold the call with no break up. The Sanyo would clip in and out with 0 bars of service. I have opened the LG a few times to answer a call and I couldn't hear anything. I would call whom ever back and they said they could hear me ? I'm not sure what that problem was ? It has happened 6-7 times so far.
I really like the way the LG intergrates with my Pocket PC, Scala headset, and laptop computer. I have also tried it with an Acura TL, and everything worked great. The bluetooth doesn't have that much range though, so walking to far from the handset will cause static or an interuption in the call. I do like the LG, but it does have it's quirks, like most phones. People just need to decide what matters to them when buying a new phone. You need to prioritize what is important to you about the new phone you are considering. My next switch will be to the Sanyo 5600. I will miss the Bluetooth though. Bluetooth is for the gadget geeks out there, and I'm one of them.
If someone wants reliablity and durability go with the Sanyo 8200, if you want form (small slider phone) and function (bluetooth enabled) go with the LG-325. Hope this helps !

A Note On T9 On The Lg.. All You Have To Do Is Hit Next Or The 0 Key In Order To Get To The Next Word You Are Lookin For Same As Samsungs.. Only Thing You Our Manually Choose T9 In The Options To Use It

I've got the 325 and love it. My wife has the 8200 and isn't thrilled with it. Reception is comparable. If anything, I have found reception on the 325 to be a little better. My two favorite features re: the 325 are: 1) it's a slider (cool-factor) and 2) bluetooth headset. I love not having a wire connecting my head to the phone, especially while driving.
I think interface is pretty simple/straightforward for both. My wife is looking forward to her 18 month timefram to end so she can get rid of her 8200... she wants to get a bluetooth, and by then maybe there will be something even better.

Well isn't today a lovely day
What'd we say about giving people bad advice? ;-)
Oh well, cheer up everyone.
Now, the LG is a decent phone.
Some things to think about
1) The screen is a lil' bigger on the 8200, and it is TFT as opposed to STN. I will say that the STN display on the LG is damn good for an STN, but the LG's screen is also apparently very susceptible to "burn-in" If you plan on browsing the internet or using non-voice features, get the 8200.
2) Earpiece is better on the LG. Reception is comparable. In fact, sound quality is fairly good on the LG, but it's fairly muddy on the Sanyo.
3) Sanyo has a speekyphone, the LG does not.
4) Like most LG phones, the 325 has a lackluster processor that is slow at Vision. It's not unbearable, but it's not going to be fast.

1. Yeah the display can't compare to the Sanyo's...Although it is nice for an STN, it ain't no TFT
2. Earpeice agreed...I thought it was very clear, comparable to my Samsung.
3. LG has a monitor-only speakerphone which is great if all you plan on using it for is checking voice messages (which is all most half-duplex units are good for anyways)
4. I didn't get to see the vision speed, so I can't comment...Others have concluded that it is only "average" though...
The phone does have a hard time staying open when on calls, and I have closed it on accident a couple of times and hung up on people. You get use to this and change the way you hold it.
The LG has an option to set it to Only end calls by button push. I have mine set to only end calls when i press END and only answer when i press TALK. Saves me from having alot of angry friends wondering why i hung up on them. :hee:

As someone else pointed out the LG can scroll through words in T9 by pressing NEXT.
Both phones are cool. I love my 325 though :)

My mom couldn't say the same about her Panasonic or her current Samsung.
My sister couldn't say the same about her Nokias (she has had 3 different models, all of which were reliable up until she lost them.)
And I can't say that about my 'Sheeba.
It has been a very problematic cell phone, and she's not the only person who has had problems with it (read a post I made back in June regarding this)

My point is that many people have many problems with different brands/phones...Type "5500 redialing", "7400 call dropping", or "A680 ringer speaker" into the search feild and see what you come up with...The problems that incure don't neccassarily make them *bad* phones...

Has anyone experienced any echo on their LG?
As in the 325? Nope....only echo that seems to exist is if you use a BT headset.(the mic is so close to the earpiece....so, of course)
Now, that could be resolved with volume adjustments

who has such bad luck that they get five of the same phone that are riddled with problems? better chance at winning the lottery. i think people who return a handset 5 different times and have problems with all of them and don't do anything about getting a different handset are being a little picky. i've had tons of sprint phones and none have really had any bugs that totally rendered the phone unusable. all have little issues from time to time but nothing major. and i had the 8200 and had no problems whatsoever except for the earpiece which i thought was horrible. other than that it was great.
