V600 until the V635 comes out. I've seen the Razr in person, held it in my hand. It's nice and thin and for the most part, pretty to look at. But it is large width and length wise. It seems almost too pretty and nice, that I'd be nervous about dropping it or scratching it; sort of like if you just bought a Lambo, you'd never drive it locally for fear of getting it scratched, etc.

Okay, I love my Moto phone, but the v600 has been recalled. If someone is willing to sell you a v600, run away. When a Cingular corporate rep says don't buy a mid-high level phone...it's not stocked in most stores, anyway. Any Cingular store or authorized agent that is selling them is trying to clear out their stock.
If you want a similar phone, the v620 is an upgrade currently available. It is not available through Cingular, but you can use it on Cingular if you get an unlocked version from some place like www.myworldphone.com
I am personally waiting for the Sony Ericsson s710a. It's got all the features that you could want in a unique swivel form factor. It's supposed to be out in the next month...heh, was supposed to come out for Christmas.
Anyway, you get more bang for your buck with that phone.
There are many, many Nokia 6230 devotees and it also has more bang for your buck than the RAZR. If you have a Costco membership, you can buy this Nokia from www.costco.com for $299. Unlocked, no contract. Go to electronics then scroll down...toward the bottom right hand corner you'll see wireless phones as a subcategory of Telephones, I believe.
Good luck with your search. I love my phone, but I miss the battery life I had with my Sanyo 4500. But, I don't miss the bulk. And in all honesty, the v551 will make you understand why people say the Sanyo earpiece sounds muddy. The clarity is excellent, the reception has been quite good and it does more than my Sanyo did for $150 less (retail). Heck, you can order it for $210 from www.hellomoto.com. I paid $350 for my Sanyo...it's a great phone for the price, but if you really want a Moto you might want to consider the v620 unless you are willing/have to wait for the v635. It could be three-six months before that hits stores. You can find more info on that phone at www.phonearena.com (and possibly www.phonescoop.com They're all a blur.)
My final thought is that the RAZR, after having played with it extensively during the past couple months, is that the novelty factor has totally worn off those I know who have one. If you want something compact and unique, I'd say the s710a is the best bet. But, don't ever switch for a fashion phone. Ever. :D

A garage door opener that also balances his checkbook...heh.
I guess the cutting edge aspect of the RAZR is the form factor and there are those to whom its appealing. On the other hand, I understand wanting a feature-packed phone for the price you pay for a RAZR...some may consider it lacking.
But, from what I understand, it's an excellent phone with clear audio quality and reception. So, it does apparently perform its primary function well.

it also has bluetooth and video capabilities. it's not exactly devoid of "real features". but i guess it doesn't have a cute little polar bear running around on its screen...bummer. :D

Yeah, you can watch video, but apparently its got very limited memory, like 4 or 6 mb if IIRC, and without a TF or SD slot, the applications are limited. But, at least you can watch the MMS messages sent to you by any CingulaTT customer.
And unlike the CDMA carriers, Bluetooth is becoming a standard feature on GSM phones, particularly with Cingular. So, I can see how some may just yawn at that. But, I agree, those are definitely useful features, it's just too bad some GSM users are spoiled...not me. I just can't shell out the cash for RAZR. My husband still thinks I'm crazy for shelling out full price for the VM4500 a year ago. Heh.
I plan on getting one. It's just going to have to wait a bit. But, it's part of my grand scheme of owning as many GSM phones as my budget will allow. Muahaha!
I don't know, however, that I would shell out the bucks to use it as my primary phone...especially if this is someone who's thinking about switching. Unless this is one of the Softie billionaires who think nothing of gold plating everything...heh.

i think a lot of people poo-poo the RAZR because if its price and because it's only available with a Sorint competitor. if sprint carried a CDMA Razr for the same price and the same features, people here would be going nuts over it. not everyone, but a lot of people.
as for my bext phone, i'll take the S710. :)

That's exactly why I haven't purchased the phone. Heh. I just haven't got 500 bucks. I mean, that covers our car/truck payments for a month.
But, I'm thinking in a few months ebay will be flooded with them and the price will go down. And, then there's the tax return time...plus my husband gets a big cash bonus in May.
But, yeah, my next phone is the s710a, too.
And I agree, if there was a CDMA version of this phone, Sprint/Verizon customers would be going apesh*t over it just like the GSM folks did back in November. It's just that I'm noticing the novelty is starting to wear off among some of the GSM phone junkies. They're ready for the next big thing. Surprise.

Yeah i had the dumb Moto V3...it sucked, i had it for like maybe 2 days and just had to get rid of it...crappy service (which is odd cause it was Cingular and where i live CIngular is great) and the camera sucked and there was no video capture...I then got the MOTO v710 and kept it for 15 days then decided to cancel Verizon and come to Sprint with the PM-8200...which i love...especially that clicking noise it makes when opened and closed!
