I started a profile on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=7155525&Mytoken=20050117105057) and was trying to put a way on there that people could send me a text message but i dont want to just put my number on the internet... anyone know how? (the site supports HTML but not JAVA)

If the site supports PHP, you can code a lil script to send an email to your phone using number@messaging.sprintpcs.com...thats what I did

Interesting, as long as people can't see the PHP code and what it generates...
Another easy approach would be to create an email alias or forwarding mechanism. For example it is trivial for me to create an email alias on my mail server like joebob@mydomain.com and have that point to number@messaging.sprintpcs.com. If at any time I don't like the SMS's flowing in this way, I can just disable the email alias. And my phone number never goes out in the "wild"...

The email alias is exactly what I do (run my own down and mail server on linux). page@domain.org goes to my pager and cell@domain.org goes to my cell. Of course domain.org is not my domain :)
