My pm-325 doesn't trigger alerts when when I get a voicemail or message. The green light comes on and icon displays, but that is all. It is set to vibe & ring on both events, but they never work. I feel like I missed something simple, but I can't find anything and the manual isn't much help.
Using v17.
Thanks.

You have the ringer on, right? (you didn't turn it down from the side buttons?)
Does your phone make any sounds for calls?
When you switch the alert to Vib and Sound, does it play the ringer and vibe?
(Sorry for the probing!)

Yep, ringer is on. Rings normally on calls.

^^ Sure, that works fine.

Yes, when I select the vib and sound, and set it as current it vibes and sounds normal. I even set it to off, and restarted. Turned it back on and restarted, but still nothing.
I was hoping the update to v17 would have fixed the problem, but nope. :eyeroll: I take it that this is not typical.
What am I missing?

Tested it on mine to make sure it still worked! And it did!
Ok, did you press OK when you switched the alert setting? (it won't save it if you just switch and press end)

Yep, im sure i did that too. Thanks for trying to help. Think a phone reset would fix the problem? "Security > Reset Phone" Would I lose all my contacts? I don't want to have to swap phones just for this...

Not sure about the reset...
I wish someone else would come in here and post an idea! I'm running out of them. :hee:

I reset my 325 a couple of days ago, you won't lose your contacts. However, I'm not sure about the problem you're having, it sounds like you might need to swap the phone out.

This may be things you've already tried too but go to: MENU - SETTINGS - SOUNDS - ALERTS
Now select VOICEMAIL ALERTS - try changing those...maybe you have it on silent. I use the Custom one and the Sprint lady says, "you have a new message."
You can go to MESSAGE ALERTS and try the same thing.
Let me know if you get anywhere with that.

Well, looks like I'll have to swap out the phone. Went to spring store, and the guy fiddled with it to no avail. Lucky for me I got the phone less than 30 days ago, otherwise I would have had to swap for a used/reconditioned phone.
I goofed - I didn't ask if the replacement coverage would have covered this. Because, well, I don't have it. Sorry.
Thanks for all the help guys.

So I have to post a follow-up in case this happens to anyone else here.
If you follow this thread, I went to the sprint store on my lunch break and a tech fiddled with the phone for at least 20 minutes trying to get my alerts to work properly. Bringing the total to at least half a dozen people actually mutilating my phone trying to get them to work. Regardless, the Sprint Rep told me to get the box, charger, etc. and they would swap it out. No problem; I would come back tomorrow and do just that.
BUT..
Later that day, around 3 p.m. my phone died from all the attention it was getting. When I got home around 5 p.m., I plugged in the phone and it beeped letting me know it was charging. Super. I turned the phone on while it was charging, and after it came on it started beeping and buzzing like crazy from all the test messages that the Sprint Rep had sent. Message alerts now worked.
I know what your thinking, but this was not the first time I had turned off the power to the phone. I was having trouble with Vision and a phone Rep had me take the battery out for a full 2 minutes. And there were _several other power-downs executed in that troubleshooting bonanza.
In sum. I don't know if the: "power-off -> charge" event, or the: "off for 2 hours" event made this work, but... it works. Oh, and the Rep did do a "Phone Reset" something I hadn't ever done.. might be important.
And thanks my story. :eyebrow:

had the same problem with my alerts, this is what i did...
I had to return this phone - though I got an alert for both voicemail and text messages, only one alert comes through, and there are no visual or aural indicators after that to tell you that either a voicemail or text message is waiting. The LCD on this phone is so dark, that you cannot see it at all, unless you press the side button to light it up. So if you are away from the phone when a voicemail comes through, it appears as though you would have no idea until you actually light up the lcd or open the phone up.
On the Sanyo 8100 that I have gone back to, when either a voicemail or text message arrives, I get an initial alert, and then every so often I get a red blink on the front of the phone until I click on one of the side buttons. I would have thought that the 325 would do something similar. Went through hours with customer service both on the phone and at the store and they all tell me the phone is too new for them to know what's wrong? Can this be?
Another issue I found is that the backlight settings do not seem to hold. There are options to set the time of the lcd, even to "always on". But with that setting, it still does not stay on. Is this a software issue too?
For these reasons I had to return the phone, and I am still wondering if it's just that the settings were screwed up, or are there actual software problems with the phone itself. Can any try these things out with their 325's and let me know. Thanks
