So I'd really like a Pocket PC phone. I'd possibly even settle for a Treo. I qualify for the $150 rebate on a phone since I've had mine for more than 18 months. Even with that rebate, the phone will be $400. I found a deal through Amazon.com and AT&T where I buy a bluetooth Sony Erickson phone for $44, and they have $270 in rebates. After the rebates, I can use that $270 to buy an HP IPaq with bluetooth for $299. While this is not a combo pocket pc/phone, with the bluetooth, I'd take it. I called Sprint to see if they could offer me any kind of deal before I switched to AT&T, and the rep said the only thing they can do for me is the $150 rebate. Is that true? If so, I guess it's AT&T/Cingular for me. Which is sad, because I've been 100% pleased with Sprint over the last 2 years.

I suggest contacting executive services via the BBB

why would you call them? Executive services isnt going to give you more money back...the most you might get is the rebate instant, but thats about it. Just because someone else offers a totally different product for a different price doesnt mean that they will break their back to keep you. Enjoy their data prices on the other side *waves good bye*

I called them because, like I said, I've had Sprint for almost 2 years, and I've had no problems. My Sanyo 8100 is probably the best cell phone I've ever had, and my company has a good discount through Sprint. I wanted to make sure I had all the information before making my decision. Better to call and find out then to not call and wonder later. So I called, was told no, and played my order on Amazon.com the next day.
I don't care about their data prices, I havent even used Vision on my SPCS phone in several months. With the $270 I'm getting back, I'm buying a HP iPaq with bluetooth. If I need to connect to the net, I'll put up to a Panera Bread Co and use the built in wi-fi on my iPaq :)

wait? the BBB.....Are you high?
maybe i should call the BBB on my super market because i can purchase ground beef for cheaper that prime rib. or i should file a complaint about mcdonalds because a big mac costs $2.79 and i can go to wendy's and get a jr. bacon cheese burger AND jr. fries for $1.98 off the 99 cent menu.
back to the OP- if you are considering the SE phone from ATT you might want to consider looking at the SE t608 from sprint. It has bloo-tooth and can be ordered $199 from telesales (but you cant get the 150 discount) or it can be picked up cheaply from ebay/trading post due to the release of the LG 325. that way (since you are happy with sprint) you can have your cake and eat it too.
hope that suggestion gives you something to think about. which ever phone service/device combo you decide on, i hope it works out best for you :)

If you ask for a credit towards your phone, their answer will most certainly be that the $150 18mo deal is the best they can do. What you ahve to recognize is that they do not think the same way you do. to you, the entire equation is how much will it cost vs how much credit will I receive, and thus how much will my out of pocket expense be.
To Sprint, $150 is the most they can give OFF THE PHONE. But they can also give a 1 month's service credit for "good will". It will not be "off the phone", but as far as you are concerned, a credit is a credit, and you will both be happy. I am not sure if it will add up to the $270 you are seeking, but it can't hurt to ask, and perhaps your starting position should be for two months, and thena fallback to one.
Also, I have never found going outside of the organization to be terribly helpful. If the answer is no, just ask to sepak to the next level up. In my experience, a callback is almost never made, so insist you speak to someone now, rather than the callback that never happens. If you reach a roadblock through supervisors and managers, ask for the executive offices, or the "President's help line"
Hope that helps

If you haven't used Vision in the last few months, then why, pray tell, do you need a PPC or Palm-based smartphone?
I can think of a few extraordinary reasons, but really, you are looking for too much in your phone. Furthermore, $449 for a new Treo or PPC-6601 is NOT at all bad. Take the $300 to $400 you'd spend on a similar PDA and $250 for a phone, and you can see how you save.

I never use Vision because I don't enjoy reading news articles on my phone, and I didn't think it was worth the $15/month I was paying. I'm near enough to a computer most of the time when I want to check something out on the net, so I found I would go months without using the net. Only one of my friends had a sprint camera phone, so I rarely sent any picture mail either.
The PPC is for more than just web surfing. I need to be more organized. I had a Palm in college and it really helped me stay on top of things. At my current job I've found that if somebody doesn't e-mail me a task, or if I don't write it down, I'll forget it. With a PPC, I can use the calendar, as well as Tasks to help remember things. Plus, since the iPaq has built in Wi-fi, when I'm sitting in my home and don't feel like finding the wireless laptop, I can just pull the PPC out of my pocket and use that.
I realize that $400 for a Treo is not a bad price. My original plan was to buy an old Treo 300 off eBay, which I actually did. When it arrived it did not work, so I returned it and started looking at other options. I figure with this deal, I'm essentially getting what I wanted, plus some extras, for about $70, as compared to $400. I can get the phone for $40, get $270 in rebates, then buy the iPaq for $299.99 online.

TheDewAddict,
I know nobody likes the answer from before, but you can get a better deal if you talk to executive services, I've done it before. They DO give better then the standard 18 month rebate.
Actually I just had someone else call and they gave them that same $150 without waiting for the 18 months, they just did it early for them and made them renew their contract. If that's OK with you then go that route. You do a complaint and Sprint calls you in 2-3 days.
This route isn't good for everything but a valued Sprint PCS customer should be taken care of, and those customer service people don't seem to care if you say you'll cancel or anything, they just want you off the phone.
*My 2 cents*
Oh, and Cheatachu72, I haven't written the BBB about my grocery store. They gave me a $5 GC. :)

nobody was disagreeing with the exec. services part. it was the calling of the BBB that everyone thought you were crazier than mike tyson for. :D
I want a free car. I better call the bbb. Bottom line is, if you want a new phone, pay for it. Don't be an ass. Just pay for the new device.
You think I'm an ass because I want a cheap/free phone? I can get a better deal somewhere else, so I call to see if Sprint can up their offer, and I'm an ass? Well, you really hurt my feelings. In fact, I called up Sprint and asked them for the most expensive phone they have. I don't even want to use my rebate. If I spent $600 on a new phone, will you like me? :D
Thank you for your completely useless post.

Call and ask that's all you can say about it.
Matt, how many people HAVE you pissed off this month? :)
I wouldn't do that if I was you. I have used Cingular before and their service is really, really crappy. It's not worth leaving a service that works so well for you, to a carrier with all of the problems that come from using GSM. Get a used SP on ebay.
