I just upgraded from the Sanyo 8200 to the 7400. One thing I have noticed is that the pictures taken with the 7400 are significantly worse than the 8200 with the resolution and quality set to the highest settings. Pictures are always grainy with the 7400 and much darker looking than the 8200. The difference is very significant in low light conditions regardless if the flash or night mode are used. The 8200 takes suprisingly good close up pictures in low light even without using the flash, in fact it is better than the 7400 with flash on. Did Sanyo downgrade the camera in this phone? Or is it possible there is a problem with my phone? Has anyone else noticed this?

The camera is lackluster compared with the 8200 and 5500...Shoddy color saturation and dullness become quickly apparent

I disagree with the camera quality being worse than the 5500 ...the 5500 needs alot of adjustment when first purchased and eventually learns overtime. The 8200 is washed out in my opinion...Again here are some pictures I took without adjustment with a 7400

The 5500 took excellent pictures if you got one without the yellow tint..

mine had the yellow tint on night pics...but once you change the brightness down a notch, they come out beautiful...case in point:

'Bout how far to take the brightness down? For future reference.

It's up to you. I look at the pic and adjust it before snapping.

normally bringing it down to -1.0 is good enough

I've had practically every sprint camera phone and it's a bummer that sanyo didn't improve the camera more. I still think the 5300 pictures were very clear and the flash was better than current phones. The 8100 had blured edges. The 4500 was nice but had to adjust inside pictures because of the yellowish tint. I only had the 8200 for a few weeks. The 700 is nice but I didn't care for the delay in the low light. 7400 is pretty good but you still need to adjust it in indoor settings and the flash is just ok.
