not sure if this is well known or anything, but it might help some people. my account was messed up by a few CS reps and i was sent to a retention guy. he fixed my account, getting rid of stupid things like i was signed up for pcs2pcs twice for some reason. ended up saving me over 15/month by "trimming the fat" off my account. everything seemed good until i got a letter showing me my new 2 year agreement! i was on a month to month before this!
i wrote the retention guy back(he gave me his email) and after some arguing, he said that he didn't take the 2 year off, but put in a clause that was called "Early term reup". this goes on your account and basically if you cancel early, you don't get charged anything- ie the $150 early term fee. this STILL isn't what i wanted, but tomorrow's another day. just thought someone might find this info useful :)

So, how do you know this 'note' is actually on your account? Did you get any type of confirmation?

They are in the habit of extending or putting you on a contract for just about any change... I added a line in Dec. and my contract was extended to expire on 12/20/06. This was changed on my account a couple of days ago (I kept checking since I added the line and thought they had missed it...).
I wrote ecrap an email asking for the change to be reverted since I didn't sign any document at the store establishing a new contract. Today, the date appears reverted to its original 07/07/06, but still NO reply from ecrap.
I really don't care to hear back from them, but as a paying customer I think I was entitled to a reply... oh well.

You mentioned earlier to being on a month-to-month. Were you on the month-to-month version that adds $10 to your MRC? (And if so, did you just end up getting a savings of $10?) You probably weren't, but I'm just curious.
Actually, the "Early Term ReUp" code is primarily what's added to the account during renewals, as the original contract has to be cancelled early to allow for the renewal. (...and yes, you'd be suprised how many times the ReUp is 'forgotten' to be put in there.)
However, it's also recently (to my knowledge, at least) been used for other things. Especially when a customer moves to an area outside of Sprint's coverage.

evilkeo,
I'm essentially going through much the same thing w/changing my Sprint phone # after a move to another state. "Supposedly" I have the note on my account now saying that I shouldn't be charged w/termination fee because I really didn't extend my contract - just got a new number. - BUT - I don't know if you have run into this one yet - my latest bill from Sprint adds another month on as a "pay a month in advance" since they say I entered a new contract with them. I paid a month in advance when I started with Sprint a year & a half ago - now I'm hit with another double bill. Sigh.

Think about this then.....IF Early Term Re-up is put on each time a contract is taken off and renewed (after the initial 90 days of service), then wouldnt that mean that everyone could cancel who has had a contract issue? Just a thought!!!!

i called today to check up on some stuff and checked to see about the cancelation fee. i had 2 reps(one csr and one retention rep) tell me that it was on there and i wouldn't have to pay the fee if i canceled.
keradon, i just finished my contract that i signed in 03 and didn't do anything about it. had some people call about 5% loyalty, but i didn't take them up on it. i just kept paying the same amount a month. btw, what's MRC stand for? i'm sure i'll feel stupid once you tell me.
Squirrellymom, wow am i going to be angry if that happens. let me know how it turns out!
