View Full Version : Another Lockline Question
Starting today, all of LockLine's planned changes for Sprint customers will take effect. While most components of this were rolled out gradually, here is the complete change list.
Insurance and warranty claims are now separated into two categories. The Enhanced Warranty Program (EWP) will allow customers to replace phones in any Sprint Store for only a $10 deductable. This plan is offered on its own for $2 a month.
The Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP) will be changed to only cover loss and damage. It will be offered at $4 a month as well, and the deductable on phones will rise to $50. This is to compensate for no longer needing to pay $35 for an extended warranty claim, as that is now an EWP issue (unless you are willing to pay the $50 deductable).
All LockLine plans must now be added within 30 days of swapping in a new phone. After that, they remain permanently (regardless of phone swaps or the age of phones swapped in). This presents a simple workaround for people that want to add any LockLine plan, but have a phone older than 30 days.
Current customers with LockLine will starting this month see their $4 ERP plans converted to the $5 TEP (Total Equipment Protection plan). This is a combination of the $4 ERP and $2 EWP with a $1 monthly discount. TEP is available to everyone, but current customer with the old ERP will be automatically migrated to TEP.
My Hitachi's P300 display is broken,If I understand this right with my Sprint PCS Total Equipment Protection,I just take it back to a SPCS store pay the $10 and get a new phone ?

I think you still have to go through lockline... AFAIK you can't do any insurance claims at Sprint stores.

"(EWP) will allow customers to replace phones in any Sprint Store for only a $10 deductable."
But I'm still confused about this.I tried calling but I was on hold for 15 min...

Yeah, I saw that... But this service is still being offered by LockLine, which really doesn't have any thing to do with Sprint directly... Kinda, I donno...
Well we have to wait until someone that really knows to jump in. ;)

To me it just seems like more of a strain on Sprint stores. I know some already have sooo many people in them and wait times of 45+ minutes... I don't see where these stores would want more responsibility. (Not that they have a choice I guess)

"Loss and damage" seems kinda severe.....isn't theft still covered?
I'd like to know the source of the quote.

Riddle me this, if the phone comes with a one year warranty would you take out the EWP right before the year is up or pay $2 a month from the get go.

I think that I can provide a Clearer explaination for this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as the $10 sprintPCS deductible, that in my opinion is like a BesyBuy PSP program. which is the "The Enhanced Warranty Program (EWP) will allow customers to replace phones in any Sprint Store for only a $10 deductable. This plan is offered on its own for $2 a month."
If anything it is more useful after the 12-month warrenty that you get with your phone against mfg defects. For Example, if all of a sudden after having yout phone for 2-yrs your screen no longer illuminates, then you could take it to the sprint store and have it replaced for that $10 deductible. This plan operates exactly like the warrenty that sprint prtovides with is 12-month against defects in the workmanship and mfg of the phone, basically something failing inside the phone that would render it defective. This plan DOES NOT cover accidents or the phone being lost or stolen.
Before these changes in policy went into effect, if your phone became defective within a 12-month period of time then it would be up to sprint to cover getting it replaced regardless of having ERP/Lockline or not. After the 12-month period of time thats when Lockline came into play as far as defective phones. but this was before the recent changes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as, The Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP) will be changed to only cover loss and damage. It will be offered at $4 a month as well, and the deductable on phones will rise to $50.
This Covers, ONLY accidents, like Sitting on the phone, dropping it in water (like a toilet), dropping the phone and it breaking, lost or stolen phones...etc. you get the idea... Lockline only covered these events before and then after the 12-month sprint warrenty ran out then they would cover defects like the phone not working anymore.
With the new ERP protection offered through Lockline, they only cover accidental issues, as I mentioned above, but at a higher deductible. Nonetheless, it's still worth the $4 a month.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One way or another your still covered, except with the EWP(enhanced Warrenty program) it extends your 12-month sprint warrenty past the 12-months.
I hope this helps explain things better.

Does anyone knows ?
The $10 EWP is basically an extension of the warranty. It only covers phones that no longer work due to software crashes, hardware failures etc... it does not cover physical damage to the phone. So if the LCD for your P300 in the post above is just blank, then yes you would file a $10 EWP, however if the LCD is cracked or has been wet etc, you would have to file a claim with LOCKLINE. The EWP isnt really offered to customers separately (sure you can get it, but no one ever mentions it) so the TEP for $5/mo would have to be on the phone during the first 30 days of switching the phone.

that might have helped you...but basically it depends on the damage your phone has...if its someone covered under the warranty normally, we would just charge you $10 and order a replacement...but if its physical damage, off to call lockline you go :tu:

if you were referring to me, then no; I asked basically questions that were already brought up, and the very post above mine gave every answer I would've needed, and even lead to other posts in that forum that went more in-depth so I could use for reference in the future. That's why I edited before I looked unattentive and too lazy to sift through and simply read.
