View Full Version : Nokia 6016i ringer question

There have been posts that since the Nokia 6016i does not have a web interface that ringers cannot be downloaded. Another post asked if ringers could be loaded using Futuredial and a response was no.

But Datapilot shows that the ringtone composer is supported for this phone. Based upon the stated capabilities of Datapoilots ringtone composer, this would imply that one could load new ringtones via that product. I have never used the product, so I am asking if that is possible.

You should be able to upload midi tones to the phone via a DKU-5 cable, but I don't think that PC Suite works for it, if I remember correctly. Try Oxygen Phone Manager...as far as I'm aware, that allows you to upload J2ME, Wallpaper, and midi ringtones with no problem...

Nope, MIDI is about it for the 6016i. Admittedly, I never tried uploading any QCP voice ringers, but I really don't think they work on that model. Could be worth a try, I suppose. There has never been a CDMA Nokia that could handle .wav files, so wherever you read that, they are way off in their assessment.

Yes, it does support QCP ringers if it has the latest firmware installed. It's a bit finicky on some handsets, for some reason, but it absolutely does work. Most CDMA Nokia's nowadays support QCP out of the box; I'm just not sure if the 6016i does or not.

now if it does support them, the problem would be to find out a way to upload them.

thanks

There's no problem uploading to the phone at all...you just need the data cable and the correct software. It works totally fine.

MIDI IS the format that Nokia ringtones use, unless you're referring to QCP files. At any rate, software that *does* work better than PC Suite is called Oxygen Software Manager, but it's not free to download. However, it works extremely well, especially on the CDMA side of Nokia, as it were.

Regular midi ringtones, however, should work by just transferring them...at least, the majority of the time they should.
