View Full Version : Can I Download Ringer w/o a Vision Pack?

Total Vision-newbie here. Just got a Samsung A620 and am anxious to join the modern world of customizing ringers. I'm on the 2 month special offer Vision Pack thingamajig and trying to figure it all out.

If/When I cancel the Vision Pack (I'm not planning on keeping it), will I still be able to purchase/download ringers from the Sprint website? Or MUST I have a Vision Pack for that option?

Also, I have a whatever credit ($5 IIRC) for downloading ringers with this Special Offer. If I want to download ringers more than the $5 credit, do I just end up paying the $2.50 on my invoice?

Sorry to be so dumb about this, the Sprint website just doesn't answer questions well.

Thanks!

If you download from sprintpcs.com you will still haev to pay charges for the ringtone and you have to pay so muhc per KB.. Its very low.. Maybe cost you around 30 cents per ringtone.. (plus the 2.50 or w/e for buying it)

Hope that makes sense.. prolly not

Actually, he won't hjave tyo pay any of those charges until after the two months free, unless he decides to keep the Vision Service. Also, keep the vision after the 2-months, and there are plenty of sites that offer free ringtones, or for a small one-time only fee you will get access to download unlimited ring tones.

Yeah I'd keep the vision;) I love it!! They could make some cheaper plans though.. I dont use my 10 dollars free credit that much.. Maybe they could jsut make my internet 5 dollars instead of 15 :)

Thanks for the info, that makes sense.

I just don't see the point in paying $15/month to possibly be able to email pictures (that's about all I'd do with it). I won't be playing games or anything on it.

Thanks all!

I wish that Vision was included in the plan.

The reason I decided not to keep it is I found that it was unreliable (for me anyway). Half the time I would get a "Network Busy" or "Can't Connect to PCS Vision Services"... I called CS and talked to several different people and got no answer on what I can do to fix the problem. It kind of went in sections...it would work great for a few days then it would be unreliable for the next few days. Maybe they were working on the system or something that caused all this to happen, but I got no definate answer.

When it worked...It was awesome having it.

Did you know that if you download something and didn't like it you can get credit for up to two a month if you go to Sprintpcs, com, put in your cell phone# and password
(usually last four of SSN) unless you changed it or been there before.
then go to "my content manager" , click on what you want refund for, and "request a refund" for up to two items a month? It deletes it then gives you your credit within 24-72 hours.

Some accounts are flagged that if you call in say that you are "thinking " of cancelling your vision they may just offer it to you for mere $10 without the $10 credit for downloads. Call *2 and check to see if you're flagged for "Vision save $10."
Some areas are now offering the FULL vision for $10 with the same credit for downloading that you got before, depends on where you live.

Sounds like you have a camera phone. If you don't have a vision package not only will you be charged for the downloads, you will also be charged for vision use for accessing the internet to do downloads. This browsing on the net can be expensive. You're account may be flagged for "vision picture save" that is $10 with UNL picturemail but has no $5 credit for the downloads. Call in and check, tell them that you are "thinking" of cancelling vision and see if they offer it to you at $10. If you don't use unlimited picture mail you can try Vision premium for another free two month trial, it comes with $10 credit for downloads but no picturemail. If this is what you want don't tell them you're gonna cancel, just switch to Vision Premium to try it for two months. If you do want picture mail, attach this option it for only $5. THEN two months later call to see if they offer vision picture save for $10 after you try Vision premium for free trial.
Also some areas offer FULL vision (vision picture too) for $10 now WITH the credit for downloading included, depends on where you live.

...be careful saying "up to two times a month." Some people think it's a license to do that two times every month...

My free vision is up in 3 days and I am trying to decide what to do. I use picture mail and I like downloading ringers and unlimited texting. Do I need the whole 20 dollar extra package ( thats what I think I am paying now) 20 bucks isn't that bad for all the fun I am having with my phone but I don't get any business discounts ( like many around here) so I would love to save a little money if possible but I don't know what I need to ask for. On my last phone I didn't do texting or send pictures but now I keep telling my husband I have to have all the features and he doesn't get it.

I ~heart~ my MM7400!!

well, you could call customer care and be connected to business department and see if the company you are working in has a tie up with sprint and if it is, ask if you are eligible for a discount since you are an employee of that company. or you could go and check your HR about this

right now, it is only for one month free, and he has to pay the downloads, but the internet acces is free. just be careful because in most of the websites, they are saying thatyou would not be pating for it but would charge you every month for those and just keep on giving you downloads of ringers which you do not like and it is very inconvenient. :irked:
