Unlock codes? I have added the ESN to my account but it wont work. How do I program my number into the phone? What am I missing? I was assured that it has been unlocked.

None of the Sprint phones come unlocked. You have to us a lock code inorder to access the programming data of your phone. I don't see why they didn't tell your the programming information when you switched the esn to your account.

Actually it doesn't matter if you know your MSL or anything of that nature. Actually, You just need to Flash the ROM of the phone with the different information. There are some ROM updates out there online of ones that people have made that can be customizeable. like for example, I have the Treo 650. Sprint Didn't include teh ability to Use Bluetooth as DUN, and/or manynother things like Voice Memo and stuff. I reflashed my phone to include such features and get rid of some of the other stuff that must stay on your phone by default. I don't encourage ReFlashing your phone unless you KNOW HOW TO READ & FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.

You are not right. I use my Samsung SPH-A620 not with Sprint. Although, it was made for Sprint and has Sprint logo on its face. But I unlocked it myself and re-programmed it for use with our local operator. You just need a data cable for your phone and special unlocking software. It is even possible to change ESN of phone if your carrier does not allow "foreign" phones on its network as ours.

First I misread the title of the post. He wants to use it for another provider other than Sprint. If he gets the info from the new provider he may be able to use the phone but more than likely will not be able to use the data services.
In reply to Shabba,
The phones are locked. You used a program to get the programming information. Changing the esn of the phone is probably illegal and would fall in the group of people that clone phones. The phones are locked and need programming information. If you hacked into the phone and were able to access the information, it still seems the phone is locked you just found a way to bypass the structure. Sprint only allows one esn for a phone to be used on the system. If you deceided to change the esn you may get it to work but may come up with fraud if the esn is used. What you are doing is something I would never recommend. Altering the ESN is not a good thing and could cause you to get into trouble.

Making clones is illegal even here, but I don't do this for fraud or other illegal purposes. We change ESN because our CDMA cellular operator does not connect phones bought not from them. But I like my Samsung A620 and want to use it. For example, you have a Sprint phone with a nice plan, and do not want to switch to other carrier. And you want to buy a Virgin Kyocera SE47 "Slider", but Sprint will not activate it with your account. But you may unlock it, change ESN, re-program it and use with your existing Sprint account. As far as I know Kyocera Slider is not offered by Sprint, but it is a very nice phone. Why not to use a phone that you want to use ? Why to use only the phones offered by your carrier ?
