I couldn't help but notice if you download winamps free player it rips everything in AAC format which would eliminate having to convert it from the indusrty leading mp3 format.

The only thing with this is you still need some sort of trimming program for acc format.

OK, I just checked that website.....to rip/burn music to use as an AAC ringer will cost you....see here;

Not bad though, considering all that you can do.

Awesome! I have cooledit pro so all I need is the Winamp!

Just use CoolEdit pro to make any MP3 into a 30 second clip,

Then use dBpowerAMP - found here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm,
the Psytel Encoder, (AAC/MP4 codec)- found here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codecs/dB...P-codec-mp4.exe

Just open dBpowerAMP, select the 30 second MP3 you edited with Cooledit pro.

From the convertor settings select "mp4 (CLI)" from the dropdown for format, and select Quality as 48kbs. Select Volume normalize option, and click on Convert.

Once the conversion is done, rename the file (no spaces) and change the extension to m4a - then send the ringer to your phone.

Has anybody tried Nero Wave Editor? It lets you edit the files (.wav or .mp3) and also convert it to AAC. It also allows you to change the bitrate, change to volume level and downmix to mono. I use it alot for my ringers.

I did the Nero Edit program for awhile, myself. It worked alright for a bit, but I must have did something funky with a setting, because I haven't gotten the program to run without distorting the sound files that I've outputted ever since. I just take the mp3 --> Audacity --> Quicktime Pro method these days. It's handy to have an all-in-one program, admittedly, so if Nero works, use it.

I have Nero Wave Editor as well as Sound Rescue by Terratec. I haven't tried them yet, but at least I have some options to play with.
