I ran my phone bill up a bit but i recently lost my job. I need to know of any dicounts and things to get my bill down. I've done the one referral credit for this month and dropped call credits. Are there any more? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot...deshaun

Guys, you guys way overblew this IMHO. Yes, the dude called in a few bullsh## dropped call creds, but he is in a bind and asking us fellow SprintUser bros for help on credits... Read his post above again carefully. He is not asking for methods to get fraudulent discounts, just discounts to get his bills down. Why can't my fellow SUser bros stop harrassing the poor, jobless student who happens to be in a financial bind? Remember, he is part of this community and also a fellow sprintpcs customers. Did anyone mention to ask Claire for the customer appreciation 5% discount? Or how about mention that when he looks for a new job, SU has manu threads listing companies which offers company discounts for SPCS (many of whom don't even make it common practice to inform their employees of any existing SPCS agreement)? If you think this dude's thread is pro-fraud, Dave close all the threads posting companies with discounts, all threads mentioning anything remotely how to connect to #777 (remember, this IS against SPCS policy, and we know it), etc... get the point people?

I joined this thread to learn from others and also give a little. I am now giving a little piece of my mind to the members who came down on Deshaun a little too hard, again IMO. Yes, lots of sarcasm thrown around, and even a few helpful hints to deshaun buried in sarcasm (yes, some did provide good advice, but it was 'hidden'), but remember what this forum is really about, about people helping one another.

Peace out!

There is not much he could doat this time, the best thing to do is to call customer care and get some one who is really understandable, but I doubt that would help. There is little he can do. Do you need your phone? If anything get it suspended until you got money for your phone bill, then unsuspended your account. If your accounts been suspended for to long (three months, i believe) it will go into to “final, actually write off status” which means its gone, and you have a bill left with a bad credit report. That’s all I can think of at this time.

put the phone on a vacation plan. i think it's super cheap but has no minutes. also, call and talk to the billing folks, they will work with you, maybe set up a payment plan or something. and work on finding a new job. wishing you luck!

Oh yah, thats a good idea for him. but it has no min, and it cost you to call someone. and it's $5 a month. talk to customer care on that one. not a store rep., most reps can not add it to an account. (limitations for reps.)

That other thread was closed because it is fraud to use the "drop call credits" for anything other that a LEGIT dropped call ! He addmitted he used it to get his bill down. This thread had no right to have been opened just to get around Dave closing the other. In essance this one should be closed too. It's the same topic just opened by another user. If you can't post according to the guidelines, don't post at all.

If you can't post according to the guidelines, don't post at all.Do not think you understand my point of view. Yes, the OP posted he did a few "call drop credits", but the essence of the thread was for input/help on what types of legit discounts he could get. Remember, he did get receive one legit referral credit.

Maybe I am not understanding your point. Are you saying if a thread even hints at something fraudulent, illegal, against SPCS policy, dishonest whatever you want to call it - then thread be closed??? In that case, many (not all) threads on SU (see the Underground room, for a good example) and similar forums should be closed where people are OPENLY discussing ways to do "something". Or should threads be closed when things get out of hand with childish users sarcasming each other to death and not trying to answer the OP's basic question?

I opened this thread b/c I believe we (at least most of us) SU users could have done a better job explaining the options to our young, new SU member and new SPCS user. ... BTW, the first few posts so far is a good example of what I am talking about...

So if Dave wishes to close this thread only b/c of WHY I opened this, he is the Mod and has the right to do so, but I hope he provides a good reason in doing so. I can deal with reason, just not a bunch of BS. Even in presence of BS, I do try to look for what is really trying to be said...

Anyway, not bashing you here, just making a point in hopefully keeping this SU board focused on what I have come to find a very interesting, educational, and mostly enjoying place to hang out. I thought a user was wronged and that people walked away from a closed thread not knowing exactly the hell happened. It is human nature to get lost in the fray when sarcasm is thrown around...and the OP always seem to look bad (LOL). ANyway, just my two cents, time to by some Focacia bread for dinner.

Peace out!

and happy new years to all.

Dave doesn't have to provide a reason why he closes threads ! It doesn't matter if his referral was legit, using the dropped call credits as a discount is fraud... Again, in the guidelines, fraud discussion is not allowed. Plain and simple.

Yes he may have admitted to fraud but i'm still giving ideas out for help. Plus my ideas are not fraud either, just some ideas to help out. Plus I’m sure there are other people out there that may be in the same situation that have not committed fraud, and hopefully the ideas laid ahead (that are not fraud) will help them out.

agreed:

1. vacation plan
2. try hard to get a job soon
3. work with sprint's collection department - key is communication with any creditor - let them know you want to make good but you have to work with them to resolve it since you have to find a job. KEEP COMMUNICATING WITH THEM.
4. refer lots of friends to sprint (legitimately) for referral credits.

if he is in good standing from ebfore, he should call until he gets a rep that helps, i have had friends who have lowered theirbills from talking with reps. dont expect miracles, they wont make youe bill disappear, and dont try like 15 times either.

Again help with info was what he was asking for. If he had our knowledge would have he called in the dropped calls? Could we save him or others how he lowered himself to be dishonest.

And not to discourage others for asking for info, I too agree that others have asked far greater "honesty and am I breaking the rules question than this dude did" There a lot of different things we all find out by asking questions, we learn what not to do by getting burn'd by our actions and now we can tell others or in this case maybe tell what he might do legit...

I think those who flamed may have thrown the first stone and didn't think, could that have been a friend or family member maybe not today but they could have been there in the past. Would I have wanted them to get treated that way.

I really do think we all kick ourselves and say:
I need a better job
budget my money better
not to spend so much on thing I don't need

why was this guy getting it so hard?

I have a tee-shirt and I survived I hope this kid does too

Hope I'm not being to pompous here, but I find it hilarious that you're mentioning guidelines while referring to a home page in your signature that has one single available item on it; the commercial sign-up Ipod thing.

As you undoubtedly know, Dave has refused to let us put the Ipod link directly in our signature, so congratulations on beating the system to your benefit.

That's my web site... I've got all my pages on my comp they aren't finished yet... And if I want a link on my site to the IPod site, then that's my my choice... Has nothing to do with guidelines here. And in the guidelines there's nothing about the IPod link. If Dave wanted it removed, he could message me and let me know, or remove it himself.
Edit: IF my main reason for putting my site link in my signature was to get IPod signups, believe me, there's a much easier way to get around that then make a site...

I'm not gonna beat you up on the issue--it's just very entertaining to me and I wanted to express my joy. Indirectly, you made my day man!

If you do 99mph on a 35mph zone, is it illegal if the cop does not see you? Or is it illegal if a neighbor reports you and the cop catches you w/ his radar gun?

Again, not sure if the ipod link is against guidelines here, but pretty sure self-interest/promoting items (getting a free ipod) is.
