I just went through a hell of a time figuring out what was wrong with my phone with Sprint Tech Support. After the problem not being figured out by two tech support phone calls, I was told to go into my Sprint store. The idiot there didnt know what she was doing either and couldnt help (said I had to call Tech Support again). So I did, and thankfully I didnt get some backwoods retard.

In order to fix my phone though he took me to a "Secret Menu" and to get there I had to dial ##3282# . I asked the guy if there were many other secret menus like this and he said "Tons, you would me amazed to find out all the stuff thats on a cell phone that people normally cant get to". But he wouldnt elaborate. So, I was wondering if anyone else knows how to get to any other secret menus on the Sanyo 7400, or a different place online that may be able to help me out.

Or, if someone can give me an idea of what other things these menus can do that'd be awesome as well.

##debug# and go to 1x rate set. I think that's what you're looking for.

It should stay at whatever you set it at until you reboot the phone or turn it off. Then it reverts to default.

I guess I will go ahead and ask this question also, what does changing the phone data rate cap on the 7400 actually do?

I guess it's similar to how cars have built in speed limiters, it doesn't let you go faster than a certain predetermined speed. So the same thing with the phone and how fast the data can be transmitted and received, there's a limit to how fast it can go, probably so the network doesn't get overloaded by everyone with Vision downloading at insanely high speeds. That's why we need EV-DO now! :D

I kinda thought that but wanted to make sure. Does anyone know what the default is? And how do I know it is changing? I guess I am expecting the menu to change from saying 1x.

The general wisdom is that the data rate is controled by the network, so even if the phone could be set to the faster setting you wouldn't see any change. I've tried it an several phones and have never seen any improvement.

NOTE:

To use the ##3282# code or any other ## code, you need the MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) for your phone. For those of you who don't know what the MSL is, it is the Key to unlocking your phone.

So you can try to get into the phone w/ a ## code, but unless you have the MSL, you'll be going nowhere.

If your not sure what changes you make will do to the phone, I suggest you don't do it.

If your hard up for the MSL, then simply call into a Vision Support tech and tell them you have already been told to use the Vision Reset option in the menu, and another tech told you that if it still didn't work, you are suppose to call in and tell the next tech to do the ##3282# (##DATA#) thingy. When he walks you through it, the 6 digit code he gives you will be your MSL. This code is what they have to give you to unlock ALL phones.

Dont be confused with the initial 6 digit code given to you at the time of activation, as this code is a one time use only code and won't work again. Now, that is if the person activating the phone didn't use the MSL in the first place. Like I did when I worked for SPCS. If you have this initial code and it doesn't work the 2nd time, then it is the 1 time code.

If someone suggests a code to use as was done above, it most likely is the MSL for their phone and wont work on your phone. There is a Universal MSL for certain serial numbers of phones, just like a master key for a group of locks. But it only works for a certain group of phones.

Hope this info clears up some of the "myths" out there and what your MSL can do for you!

What is the faster speed? 144k or 144k/230 in this 1x data rate option setting?

Try entering 276and the last 3 digits of your phone model number eg MM9000 the code would be 276000
