Have you toogled the WAP/XHTML link at least 2 or 3 time while at WiForums? Cuz the MM phones do use different browser protocols than previous MIDP 1.0 browsers in older vision phones.

If the A700 supports XHTML-MP you should see a markup language option entitled 'XHTML-MP' in the WAP Options section of My Prefs, was this option present when you first tried switching WAP modes?

In regards to the off center text and background images, they are browser specific issues. When in XHTML-MP mode, the site rendering/layout is entirely dependant on the browser's support for WCSS. Several cellular phones that I have come across cannot render the wireless forum as expected; I would not be surprised if the A700 falls into this group.
