I have the standard retention plan of 750 AT for $40 plus $10 Vision and 5% monthly discount. For x-mas i wanted to add a line for my son with one of my old Sanyo 4900's i had laying around. At first i was going to switch my wifes plan to a F&F family for 70 bucks a month but they wanted a $125 deposit...sorry i wasnt biting for that.So i asked what i could do with my line.I was told i could add a line for $20 a month but i had to change my plan to a family plan.Well im very happy with my plan but i did not by any means wan t to change my plan at all(all i was looking for was maybe some x-tra shared minutes for us thats all) so they saw i had a business account and i had to be transferred over to see what they could do for me.Ok so now i go to CS rep #2...i explain what i want and i ask to see what they can do for me....to make a long story short they also try to make me change plans...so i tell them no because i have a retention plan and im happy with it and i want to keep it.The rep says she'll call over to retention to see what they can do.She comes back and says they cant do anything without me changing(which i knew right there was total BS).I kindly ask to be transferred to retention so i can speak with a rep myself. So on to rep #3.....i get this very nice woman on the line and i explain to her that i have a 12year old son i want to give one of my old phones to.I also tell her im not looking for anything fancy just a basic 300 min a month plan fo rhim but yet i want to leave my plan alone if i can.So instead of altering my plan she goes and tells me that i can keep what i have and also open a new line under my name with a basic 300min plan with no vision no nothing. So now i have my $40 plan but i have another line with 300AT and free nights and weekends starting at 9 for $35.She also didnt charge me an activation fee or an AAP charge per month. After the phone was active i checked it on the Sprint site and she didnt give me a $35 plan...but a 29.95 300AT plan!!!No AAP charge and no activation fee...is it me or is this too good to be true?????

Not a bad deal, however...if you have an old phone that you want to activate on a new line you might as well go ahead and activate that new line but get one of the free phones while you're at it or take advantage of an instant rebate on one of the more expensive phones. That way you have an extra phone for a back up, and hey, it's either free or really cheap so why not? The only reason I would have preferred the $35 over the $30 plan is because the $35 would have been fair and flexible. That way if your son goes over the 300min, you wont get stuck w/ crazy overages. (Don't I sound like the commercial :hee: ) Anyway, if I were you I'd try to get hooked up w/ one of the free phones or pick up the 4920 for $10, or something. Remember, you only get the instant rebate once...might as well take advantage of it while you can (if it's not too late).

Yeah, that 4920 for $10 bucks is a super steal. A lot of good $50 dollar phones too. I wish I was a new customer.

IMO i think she did it like this because i was reactivating one of my old phones and not asking for a deal on a new one(plus she did this all over the phone in about 15 mins)...i honestly see no need to get a new phone.I see what you guys are saying but ive had the phone since new with no problems and a very low life timer so the phone is in like new condition...plus if he does something to it i have an exact twin of it for a backup. For what he needs this phone for this was perfect for him.....plus he was very happy on x-mas morning which was most important to me...

Theres no AAP charge because you arent sharing minutes, you got a seperate plan for your son. AAP charges only apply when you share minutes between 2 or more phones.
You also could have gone with one of the newer plans....1000 mins for $40, then added a line for $20. That way, in the future if you wanted to add vision to your sons phone, it would only be $5 instead of $15.
I also agree with the other posters...instead of activating an old phone, I would have taken advantage of one of the free phones you would get with an instant rebate.

Actually the 40$ 1000 min. plan doesnt let you share minutes. You'd have to pay for a new plan on a 2nd line. The 50$ 1000 min. plan does let you share though.

Here in So Cal there is a nationwide 1000 min plan that does let you share....for $40
